@beev7 why does the fact that it's christian ruin it for you? Do you know how many songs are written about god or religious aspects of life by artists who aren't christian? Just take the song for whatever it means to you, and love it for that. Songs aren't meant to be interpreted any other way than by the person who hears it. Regardless of what Switchfoot wrote it about, keep it about what it means to you. But just because it's christian shouldn't ruin it for you.

I'd just like to point out that song can't be Christian. A song is not a living thing. A Christian is a person who beleives in Jesus Christ. Therefore a song can not beleive in a religion, alas there is no such thing as Christian music. The artists can be Christian and write songs maybe with a Christian aspect to them but don't say you can't listen to it because it's Christian or vice versa. It is a song and anyone can listen to it if they want to. =]

Gotta disagree... A song CAN be defined as Christian depending on it's content. If the lyrics are given a religious message by the artist then that automatically adds Christian conotations. I will admit that people will often have their own individual thoughts and opinions about the origin of certain songs - and as a result it's often subject to their interpretation. But depending on the thoughts of the artist at the time of writing, a song CAN be Christian in it's structure.

I'm not flaming, but calling the song Christian doesn't mean that people are saying the song goes to church every Sunday. lol. When it comes to music, Christian is a type of genre, like Pop or Rock is a genre. Christian songs mean that the song is of or relating to a Christian belief. A song can be Christian.
