this is really weird..Indonesian love to copy Indian dance..names..Dwi..Santi..Don;t you all have & love your own Indonesian heritaga..such a weird contrast..living in other shadow,,also India is Hinduism..Indonesian Muslim..most of the heritaga is kufur..but still Indonesian love to practice..that;s weird !!!No wonder..tsunami hits badly in Indonesia..
Young Pung, baguuuuuuussss..sekali.
Tokong upload dooonggg....
Ah, were you doing the sregseg (squatting walk) properly (with the outer side of sole of the right foot on the floor)? If so, I can understand the blisters - not too many people perform that movement properly anymore.
Well, it's about a young man who is expressing the gamut of often fast-sweeping emotions everyone experiences when growing up. Maybe we can call it "a portrait of a hormonal teenager"?
I've already said what I'm about to say to a certain "tennyphnom" regarding a different dance I posted but I'll say it again. It's really sad to hear someone referring to another culture's art as "spooky" or "awkward". Have a more open mind and be less ignorant of the world around you. The world would be a much better place :).
I dance both Balinese and Javanese court dance. At first I thought they looked spooky. Now I only see the beauty, but it isn't necessarily ignorant for someone to think that it looks strange or even awkward. It's so different that Western eyes may not readily see what a native Indonesian would. I'm sure many non-Westerners find ballet ugly or weird. You can appreciate an art from another culture even if it's seems different... of course it does, it's from another culture! :)
this dance is verry beautifull the male dancers i think have a lot more exprestion then the "legong" dancers but i find both are beautiful to watch :)
You really need the gamelan playing in the background for this dance - the last "flirting" section (pengipuk) should have the dancer "flirting" with the two drummers, which is missing here (and also in many versions of Taruna Jaya).
Hi elibris, i think believe the creator's name is "Marya" not Mario, which are pronounce pretty much similar. Furthermore there are an arts building named after his at Tabanan region.
Hi Kadeck, "Mario" is just an attempt to romanize his name. Balinese has its own script (carakan) so that would probably be the most correct way to write his name down. If you do a google search though, most sites and scholars do spell his name as "Mario" in Roman alaphabets, though "Marya" is probably acceptable too. :)
now i learn it for my dance examination :D

This is the MOST painful Bali dance I've ever experience. I had blister on my feet for a whole week the first time I dance this dance T_T
