@downsouth420 If you need to rely on a tech or shift light to know when to shift you really shouldn't be driving a standard. You should just be able to listen to the engine noise to know when to shift. PS. My friend used to own a Contour and I've driven it, it's fine.

Hey btw its hard on an engine to run up the rpm whens its cold. Things expand when they get warm so engines are built to compensate. There is a small amount of slack inside of the cylinders when an engine is cold. So running it hard cold is more likely to wear out faster. And you dont need to slip the clutch so much with normal driving with these they have enough torque for how light they are. Just thought id help you make your car last a little longer im not trying to be rude.
@iampragmatic i just bought a real nice 1994 M edition for 2800 with 140k miles that still runs and drives amazing. I tested one that had 184k miles and it drove great too. they are really amazing cars and they hold up really well. Like i said to someone else i found a turbo kit for around 1500 i believe, but the supercharger kits i have found are in the 2500 dollar range.
@tonymontana19892012 ........the alternator belt needs adjusting, it's loose - it can't be the SC belt coz this car hasn't got one & the owner will soon go through clutches driving it on the slip like that!

@simersonic1 In Europe and Japan, the Miata has always been the MX5, though it was also called the Eunos in Japan. Personally, I spent the money buying an MG B instead, which was the car the MX5 was copied from.

I made sure to get a 1994 and after though cause thats when you could get the 1.8 and i couldnt find a supercharger for the 1.6. i did find a turbo kit for it for like 1500 that ran 6 psi but you could adjust the waste gate. that would still be a lot of fun. Did you find anything in these past 11 months?
There's no need to be reving the engine to 3-4k rpms when taking off. Slowly let the clutch out first then accomodate with the gas pedal just as the rpms start to drop. Should be a nice smooth transition. :)
@ferrucio2004 Because it's cold. If you start your engine and then rev it to 6k+ shortly thereafter, you're about to find out what fun is all about. It's called buying a new engine. :)

Now that is a really sweet car.
The only thing it needs is someone who can drive it.
Make the shifts just below the rev limiter at 7000 rpm and do not let the revs drop below 5000 rpm.
