I was working a video room at an anime convention last year and we played this. When I got up to change the DVD this old guy with a big white beard and a cane sitting behind me looked at me and shook his head and said "You kids watch some weird shit these days". I didn't say anything back, I just nodded and changed the DVD and sat back down. He stayed and watched more for another hour so apparently Strike Witches isn't THAT bad. You never know who you'll meet at an anime convention.

I just started watching the English dub on netflix and it actually isn't that bad. But Lucchini sound like she is 16 and barkhorn sounds like she is 15. Lucchini is supposes to be 13 and barkhorn is supposed to be 17. Oh english dubs, sometimes you screw up the voices pretty good!

The way I feel about this is like how I feel about Paul Verhoven's films (Robocop and Starship Troopers) in that I get that they have some substance and work as solidly crafted work with fully realized world and characters with depth despite appearing fanservicey or 1-D archtypes. I also get how they create a sense of satire. But Verhoven's use of exploitative imagery and Strike Witches' overuse of fanservice distract and sometimes detract from the finer points of their respective woks.

When they acquired it about a year and a half ago, Funimation was weighing the censorship problem. I guess, since they have been GONZO's US "Go To", it was no problem. I hope they handle Rosario To Vampire in much the same fashion.
