But the difference is that secularism has eroded away these types of values in MOST (not all) of Christianity, but this is not the case with Islam today. In fact, there are PLENTY of other muslim nations such as Turkey, Lebanon, Tunisia and Morocco, which are far more secular and where women's rights have significantly advanced. You keep talking about the wrongs of Islam when instead you SHOULD be referring to the wrongs within individual cultures. Islam and humanist rights can and does coexist in many places, you're just to ignorant to know where to properly point your finger of blame.

There is a number of significant negative issues that should be attributed to Islam, and rightfully so, but people should know that this issue of extreme violence against women in Afghanistan is much more rooted and influenced by the particular brand of South Eastern patriarchy rather then Islam itself. One only has to look at the similar amount and type of violence against women committed by Shikhs and Hindus to recognize this.

They don't care that sharia will give this girl justice whereas their secular system will have this guy sitting in a cell for a few weeks at most after which he will pay a bribe and be released and repeat the process with another poor girl. Since he married a 6yo and started having sex with her at 9,child brides are legal and this is the reason why there are such laws in many muslim countries such as Yemen , Saudi Arabia ,etc..

@Snutih Actually, Aisya married only applicable to the prophet and not to ALL muslims, why ? because Abubakar As Shiddiq (Aisya Father) who wanted it, and Muhammad (Pbuh) cannot reject his friend request, it's not about "Pedophile", since most of people who live on 7th century have young married even on europe, not a strange case if you see 10 years old boy marrying 8 years old girl at that time.

What I'm saying is :when wife beating and child brides are made legal by a God-given law ( read my previous messages ) you create VERY fertile grounds for this kind of thing to happen.
