I don't quite agree to your logic that US shouldn't cut down on it usage on crude oil just because China and India are going to use more of it in the future. If all the cars in the US were converted into fully electric cars, wouldn't that pump enough money into the research for alternate fuels or technologies. May be electric vehicles wouldn't be so dearer then with the new manufacturing innovations that can come up then.
