I lived in Agin Court at the bottom of Nugget Hill in the 80's. Hillbrow was clean, tidy and reasonably safe. What the hell has happened, what a dump? Well, we all know but we are not allowed to say. Joburg what a slum. Within a decade after apartheid, the area has turned into nogo areas. Is this something black people should be proud of or embarrassed about?
@herbertwarmstrong We should be embarrassed about it because we are our own worse enemy. I'm not a South African, but I can tell you that it gets on my nerves when many Black South Africans don't appreciate the country they have and they're destroying it. I wish my country of origin was like South Africa. We've got to stop blaming you guys for everything that goes wrong in our lives and take accountability for our actions. Life is all about choices and decisions.
Excellent documentary, one of the best I've seen about Joburg. Really gives a flavour of what the different areas are like. Creative camerawork and editing, atmospheric sound and music, colourful, interesting characters, and loads of "right place at the right time" drama, such as the gunfire downtown and the Sector 2 vigilantes. I must be mental but I'd love to go visit what looks like a fascinating, ruffneck but pulsating inferno of a city!
