To keep your shoes from slipping put a tiny bit of tackle glue (you can find it at any hardware store) on the bottom, or a bit of duct tape on the bottom. Little rocks will stick on the bottom giving you more traction. Sounds a little weird, but it really works :)

I just recently got those boots that you had with the white jacket. I got mine buy one get one 50 percent off, so I got two pairs of boots for under 40 bucks. I don't think that's too bad. Just get some medium grade sandpaper and rough up the bottoms to make them less slippery, i do that with all my new boots!
