It's just more propaganda designed to suck away more of your money. Just because government isn't imaginative enough to find a better way to build roads is no reason why we should continue to pay. Privatize roads and we can ensure lower costs, higher quality, and create more jobs than the government could.
These are not reasonable comparisons & nothing more than propaganda! The tax is too high now! If the Fed politi-nuts were not stealing from the Highway Trust Fund, we would be in fine shape. Even some states like NC use the money for anything but roads. Europe spends so much because of the added high costs of the European Union crook-ocracy. We should never be compared to them or to a third world communist country like China that is just now building a real infra-structure.
This helps explain why the American Society of Civil Engineers gives the US a national grade of D-. We continue to underfund the needed investments to stay compettive and to protect our societal needs. We cannot continue on thepath of 'break and fix', we simply cannot afford it.
I'm never one to promote tax increases, but I really think the gas tax should be a % of the price of fuel, not just a flat amount. We need to invest in our infrastructure now or we're really going to feel the pain in the next few decades.
