#1 not a pistol (thats a handgun because it dosent automatically reload itself)

#2 not a pistol (thats a rifle with a cut off stock & "pistol grip")

@ hunter4lfe. Some counties actually have a bounty on those hogs. I got paid 7 bucks for a set of ears a year ago. And a .44 is a bad bullet choice for hogs. Not enough penetration. .243 or .300 wsm is your best bet. Use a heavy bullet though or it won't have enough knock down power. 7mm she used was cause it was a pistol. And always use a semi auto when hunting hogs. They will charge. As you notice she was in a stand with her single shot. In addition I always take a side arm on a ground hunt.

I just got an Encore pistol blued/walnut in .308 with the 15 inch barrel. I have had Contender's in the past and sold them, but I am keeping this one. I want the 223 barrel for it so I can hunt coyote's. These guns are a-lot of fun wether you hunt with 'em or just target shoot. I DO want to go hog-hunting with mine also.GREAT job Melissa!! What type of scope did you use on your handgun?

no need for a scope past 150. Some states your not allowed to put scopes on handguns for hunting. I live in colorado and its not allowed and thats how Elmer Keith would have liked it. I have hunted with a 44 magnum ruger blackhawk for years and its more then capable of accurate shot out to 150 yards. Elmer keith did own and had some of the first rifle caliber pistol but he felt it was silly and felt his 41mag the 357 mag the 44 mag and the 45 colt where ideal for handgun hunting.

Elmer keith claimed to have killed a deer a 600 yards useing the kentucky windage method on his ranch. Though the hunt was never recorded he shot a bucket off a fence at 600 in front of many guests.
