I use to play this game at the milkbar and at timezone back in the late 80's, i managed to get up to the last mission on the jungle stage. That stage was hard, got this game on PS3, i can beat the last boss in 20-30 secs flat. Have u ever finished this game on the hardest difficulty without losing a life? I tried that many times without success, too hard

@DanceOfShadows16B this game never came out for ANY home console - not the genesis, not the collection disc for ps3. the ones on the sega master system and NES were garbage wannabe arcade ports that didn't play anything like the arcade. genesis had a few home versions of shinobi. the arcade game in its true form never came to any console or console game collection. (the xbox live version has changed the mandara stage boss from the arcade original)

Actually i tend to disagree with u on this one, why? Cos on the master system if u get hit so many times and your life meter runs out then u die whereas on the PS3 version one fatal hit and u die, master system version isn't that good either and it's too easy to conquer. Game play is way too slow and the graphics and music is crap.

when i was around 13 or so, they had this arcade game about a mile from my house - i played it enough to where i could beat it on one quarter. the only thing that sucked is that you could not continue if you died on the very last level. if i died prior to that, i would abort the game and restart : )

I loved this game in high school. And, yes, I finally got to the point where I could beat it on a single quarter as well. I'd even have more lives than could be displayed up by the score.

@pocketbanna - you're right, the game was hard!! One mistake and you had to restart the level - and some of those jumps over the chasms leading up to the "Red Lobster Samurai" could only be done if you were absolutely perfect!!!

i hate that stage as well. i even nicknamed it "the bamboo forest of the pinball ninjas" (because you never know where a pinball will go next after being hit by a flipper or bumper)

That stage isn't even in the top 5 hardest shinobi stages. They made most of the mission 5 levels a bit easier to counter the lack of continues. Just pause and duck after you jump on top of something, before you jump off of something large, and as you pass bamboo trees. If you do that none of the pinball ninjas will hit you.

Picked up a copy of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for my Xbox 360. After completing the first level of Shinobi 3, I 'unlocked' this game. They did an awesome job with this game. Absolutely no 'lag', no 'glitches', nothing bad can be found. Finally, Shinobi gets the respect it deserves!!!!

This game was a major hit in Scotland, UK. I remember seeing it for the first time right next to Double Dragon in the arcade called Pleasure Land it was called. Ahhhh memories 20p a game it was spent a fortune playing them. Thanks for sharing
