Banning looking at it "reduces the market" for it meaning fewer children will be taken advantage of. @dutchgoing i dont believe any of the perverts out there can be helped & even if they could, why? im all for punishment. you cant rehabilitate people that are the way they are born. you wont stop hetrosexuals liking the opposite sex, homosexuals will always like the same sex & suffice to say a paedophile will forever like children. wether they reoffend is not important, they shouldnt be allowed to look at your children let alone be near them. as i say they cant be allowed to be among us. peace.

@danielthomasslade The only way you can make a predatory paedophile, one which actually grooms and molests children, safe in society is to use chemical castration. There would be no need to send them to prison. The trouble is that paedophiles are usually very charming people. I knew one who at the age of 28 who told me about all the 14 year old female baby-sitters he had fucked. There was nothing I could do & could not tell if it was just fantasy or a real story, but he liked to brag about it.

@danielthomasslade You should watch clip 2 of this prog. There is a guy defending Langham like mad there. Stephenson is a really crap psychotherapist, it would be a waste of money going to her, but you can see she knows Langham is a liar and in denial. At the moment some of his showbiz friends are trying to get him work again. Why can't he have a go at being a hospital porter or stacking shelves which might give him some perspective on life.

@dutchgoing i agree. hes somehow managed to potray himself as some kind of victim. thats the worst thing about peadophiles, they really dont see a problem with what they do. they see it as a natural urge & maybe to them it is & in my mind just the fact that they see it as normal is more than enough reason to get rid of them. people forget that punishment is just, not expensive unreliable therapy. every resourse should go to the victims & nothing to the criminal perverts. (except harsh punisment)

@danielthomasslade I think that if the paedophile admits that they are sick rather than denying what they are to themselves as Langham does and providing endless justifications then they can have therapy at the expense of the state. Established drug addicts are frequently offered drug treatment programmes as an alternative to prison & the prospect of not going to prison does motivate them to take this chance seriously. Pete Townshend should have gone to prison but was very very lucky indeed.

@dutchgoing i still would prefer to them punished & out of my society to be honest! i think that the sort of criminals we are talking about shouldnt get a second chance.....just in case. prevention is better than cure in my opinion. and i think townsend should be included in this. all that stops them reoffending is will power and thats not reliable enough

@danielthomasslade I understand you, but the whole basis of criminal justice is that people are punished & re-habilitated. With paedophiles there is a chance to reform some of them & you can't lock people up & throw away the key, that doesn't even happen with most murderers. On a personal note I have it on very good authority that Langham & his wife are very nasty people which fits in with his bragging about not being a paedophile because a judge said so. The arrogance is the main problem.

@dutchgoing even if they can be reformed, why? the damage is done. i think with murder there maybe on the rare occasion a mitigating circumstance, in child abuse, never. it doesnt shock me to hear langham is full of self pity, its the way these peoples minds work. the arroance is upsetting, but the problem is the fact that he will at least always want to look at what turns him on, will he ,,wont he? i think he would if he could.

@wideheadofknowledge That is a really interesting question. Maybe it is because the making child pornography leads to the direct sexual exploitation of children. Banning looking at it "reduces the market" for it meaning fewer children will be taken advantage of. The terrible things that happened to James Bulger had already happened and could no have been prevented. The laws governing child pornography mean that fewer children will be sexually abused in the future.
