we unfortunately want to live like the jetsons. Have some one pay a whole days work for pushing a button. Its very sad. Young people do not want to work in school. People don't want to work for money. I don't understand how the government is supposed to support every one when no one whats to pay into the programs. I don't understand why every one thinks the government should support them.
@moebanshee lol,..maybe you should ask the banking industry which played casino and drove the largest economy on the planet over a cliff & got the biggest welfare check in history following the 2007' economic ass-rape of the US taxpayer.
@fluffy1931 Actually, do some research. The dominoes started falling when Dems, under Clinton, changed the rules to allow unqualified homeowners mortgages. They forced banks to make bad bets, then you are upset they made the most money they could from them? Of course there were bailouts, cause Gov't does want ANYONE to feel bad or have to work hard in tough times. Of course Gov't also is spending like a drunk sailor who won the lottery. None of which this clip promotes.
@MVConsultingInc lol,..actually I didn't vote for Clinton. The Republican party controlled both houses under Clinton, dumbfuck. Banks don't make bets, dumbfuck. Get a refund on that 3rd grade economics book.
Wait, what happened, why was he angry that he got the job? He was just asking for it, he got it, and then he tried punching him. I'm assuming I'm missing something here.
@Natejitsu a scene earlier has a character telling him to beg for the job so he will get it. Watch the entire movie if you get a chance, the mud pit fight is hillarious
@DobermansRock Ive seen people working HARD for $6 per day at today's prices. Chopping cane, working in mines, anything to survive and feed the family.
They USED TO have farms and land they worked hard farming too, but that land was simply TAKEN from them and GIVEN to rich people, including rich Americans.
Does STEALING count as "hard work"? Armed robbery by soldiers? Extortion? Paying bribes? Hiring terrorists and murderers? That sounds like relatively light work, no sweat at all.
You're lazy. Your job isn't paying your bills? Get another one. If you can't feed your family, you're a sad sack of shit and you aren't a man. A man doesn't make excuses. It's not the "Wall Street types" that are keeping you down, it's you. If you want to find someone to blame for all the problems in your life, you need only look in a mirror.
Giving aid to the underprivledged is not a bad thing. I believe most people would like to see our country as a meritocracy, nut people can not succeed based solely on their merits without aid in many cases. Neither claiming the everyone is capable of pulling themselves up by the bootstraps or waiting for a handout works towards this goal; and to eveyone who is "self-made" you probably had help in some form along the way, and likely quite a bit. Oh, and I do hope people notice he gave the kid a
@mjm412010 "Giving aid to the underprivledged is not a bad thing." I agree. However, I disagree that taking aid for the underprivileged isn't. He gave the kid a job, not a handout. And he will expect him to work for it.
Americans can't become "competitive" with prison labor abroad unless we are willing to work as prison labor here. NAFTA and WTO have killed America. Where do we migrate to for these wonderful JOBS? What about the poor, sick and aged? Everyone to the mines? This is Liberty?
@etzel33 If you don't like America, leave. There are tens of millions across the globe that know this is the best life out there and are coming here from everywhere you might think is better. Don't believe me? Live, not vist not vacation, in another country for a while. I have. I know this nation is great, even with every problem.
@MVConsultingInc this is my country as much as you claim it to be yours. If there is injustice here, I'll fight it. Liberty and democracy are not granted, they are demanded by people of courage. No sir, I will DO something about it.
@papablues050164 That's just crap. I've created businesses. I've been homeless 2x. I was born poor and have traveled a good part of the world. You can cry woes me or do things. Is it hard? Yep. Will you struggle? Definitely. But if you want it you can do it. The how is for you to figure out for yourself. But I guarantee you will never be comfortable or successful waiting for the Government to do things for you.
@MVConsultingInc The dialogue presents a fair representation of the scene. There is pride in honest work and a fair days wage. As one I heard said," fair is a very value laden term, you make of it what you want. The scene was a great one.
@MVConsultingInc There's not much need for social welfare programs. Just stop all the forms of corporate welfare, taking from the poor to give to the rich. Free markets ARE inherently progressive, but Big Corporate leaders circa 1800s decided they didn't want free markets and competition. Too much innovation, lower prices, risk. They wanted GOVERNMENT HELP to protect their capital investments, reduce RISK. Gabriel Kolko, Kevin Carson, or even Murray Rothbard of Mises org. Dean Baker.
@papablues050164 'Show me', 'help me', 'bring me food', 'bring me a job'. Part of life is figuring out how to care for yourself. Christ, our ancestors trekked hundreds/thousands of miles seasonally to survive. GET OUT OF THE CITY. GO TO WHERE THE JOBS ARE. GO TO WHERE THE FOOD IS. Instead you sit on your keyboard and squall like a helpless juvenile. Nobody owes you anything you friggin' weakling. Lay there and die, you will be doing the gene pool a favor.
Things are tough, but what is the answer? Communism destroys motivation and it has been tried. It doesn't work. Socialism? There aren't many things that the government can do well. Capitalism has its faults but it's the reason the U.S. has led the world - even it if doesn't seem that way now. There IS corruption among the elite and we should we fight that. Eliminate every loophole possible but you still must allow people to compete and reap what they sow. Good luck.
@dgoren121692 SOCIALISM WORKS GREAT. Check with Boeing, Northrop-Grumman, Archer-Daniels-Midland, any Wall ST Bank and probably any Fortune 500 firm. Heck, even Warren Buffett takes money from the government and directly from taxpayers.
How did Walmart end up creating a market in Communist China? No govt assistance there, no sirree. Except Nixon and Kissinger negotiating w Mao for Rockefeller.
Super Rich are smart about THEIR socialism. They don't talk about it, like 1st rule of Fight Club.
I don't deny your point. There is sometimes or even often, corruption in the private sector. Only, the private sector gets things done in an efficient manner, or they fail. Are you saying that we should embrace socialism because these private corporations work/use govt? Do you believe that governent ownership in Apple would have resulted in their success, and their profit? Govt handling of programs prove otherwise. Govt and the private sector aren't inseparable, however.
