  • Thank God I was living in Beaumont at the time of the Hurricane but worked at one of the chem.plants in Orange.PPL in Bridge City rolled their sleeves and got the job done without bitching like those ppl in New Orleans

  • that was so depressing for every1 over there i live over there and our house didnt get messed up but just drivin down other streets ):

  • omg i remember that i live on that street

  • at 3:04 in the video my unkle lives thar...

  • you should've seen David st. it was behind Blueberry, we still have FEMA trailers down our street. quite a few.

  • i just saw my house in dougas addition!

  • That's sad that Bridge City got ignored by the national media. Just wondering, what was the death toll from hurricane Ike?

  • yea i live there ._.

  • @neinsudtexas10 None in Bridge City that I can remember. Most people were smart enough to leave. I did hear a few stories of people having to retreat to the attic, but thats it.

  • We just moved back into our house 2 weeks ago. It is heart breaking having to see all your belongings on the front lawn. But they can be replaced. But its the stuff you cant replace like wedding photos, pictures of family members that have passed, baby pictures. Your great -grandmothers quilt. Things like that, now that hurts!

  • I can only imagine how hard that must be. Looks like Bridge City got hit a lot harder than Galveston did.

  • My uncle and grandfather lost there homes.

  • This is my exact neighborhood,

probably the worse thing ever was to come "home" to no home.

i want to thank everyone personally for their support and prayers.

we all go through trials and tribulations.

God never promised we wouldnt, he just promised he would get us through it. which he did.

    once again thank you.

  • Damne it knocked the crap out of ya. We took it pretty bad here on the West Side of Houston.

  • dude there was a Hurricane

  • I suppose it takes a piece of garbage to know..

I'm from this area, and had SEVERAL friends lose absolutely everything. They stayed and are rebuilding - showing courage and determination that people like you will NEVER know.

  • My parents have already recieved their Fema money.. granted the amount wont cover EVERYTHING that Ike destroyed. I drove over to Bridge City from Houston 2 days ago, and it was definitely a reality check again. My parents are living in a travel trailer they just purchased because Fema has too many regulations on the "trailer"

  • I think there is sth wrong with yer mike. Movies are ok, but you sound a little metallic.

  • Hello all, Wow seriously had no idea, here on the west coast I have seen no word.

    Thanks for the vid?

Maybe some of you could answer this...

FEMA is not providing adequate assistance? Personally I think FEMA is up to some pretty nasty stuff.

Search for them here on youtube. See what you come up with.

  • I was in Bridge City Texas right after the hurricane hit with the South Carolina Baptist disaster relief. And we were cutting trees off peoples houses and doing mud out work on houses in Bridge City. If anyone needs help we were staying at Trinity Baptist in Port Arthur which was the command post. That is were people apply for help and we dont charge anything. The Pastor there Mike can help get you in touch with the right people.

  • To be honest FEMA only cares for those who are too lazy to work and and just want to ride the welfare system and FEMA only cares about those who just want a free ride off the taxpayers' dime. They don't care for those people who have jobs or those who are willing to work to help themselves and pay taxes. I have gotten to the point to where I just give up on FEMA because there is no point in applying for me. I had five feet of water in my house and I got denied for a FEMA trailer.

  • char limit

I got approved for hotel vouchers but when I got approved, there is not a vacant hotel room closer than 150 miles from the area that I work. I just cannot leave the area because I have to go to work and I got to be near the workplace. FEMA does not even care about those who are working. They only care about those who just take advantage of the system and they only care for those who are freeloading off the tax payers' money. I'm sick of paying taxes and getting nothing in return.

  • water in your home and paying for insurance against it and then have to battle the insurance company (Farmer's) for ANYTHING. They had insurance with State Farm until they got "f'd) after Rita and changed to Farmer's and have gotten nothing but stall from them as well.I feel sorry for the older people like this, but I really feel sorry for the ones who DIDN'T think that a storm surge could ever hit. Fema may pay them, but not enough!'Course, it's better than "0"!!!! Have a good day. Blessings.

  • cont: where was I? Living in their driveway. There is NO telling how long it will take all the insurance to be ironed out. It's like a freakin' war zone there. The insurance agents houses are in the same shape their customer's houses are in, so THEY aren't available. And you jerks who don't know what all this horrible muck was that infused this town....there is nothing that it touched that is okay whether it is wood or plastic. Even plastic cleaned still reeks. Grow up and shut up!

  • You who haven't been to Bridge City after the storm CANNOT imagine what you are commenting on. Fema is only helping those who didn't have insurance. Those who HAVE insurance will wait until God knows when to get repaid for some of their losses. My parents have ALREADY paid $20,000 to have their house gutted and bio-cleaned. They're 83 years old and lucky that they had thier life savings to pay for having this done. It's not rebuilt and they have been living in a travel trailer in their drive

  • majorsbc - I know exactly what you are talking about. My parents are lining in their RV, that is parked in their driveway. We moved to BC in 1978. My parents worked very hard for everything they had, only to have it ruined in the flood. But they were wise enough to realize they lived in a flood plain and had flood insurance.

  • Yep, my parents have been there since I was 5 years old. I was raised there and they have been paying flood insurance ALL of those years. NOW, the flood adjustor wants to get nasty and that's probably why they hire people without heart to be adjustors. We heard it may take 2 years to get any money. FEMA has already given money to those who didn't have insurance, but who knows how much it was..surely not as much as our parents ( have lost. But 50 years is a long time to be without flood...cont.

  • This is heartbreaking. I had no idea. When I thought flood, I thought just water. Now I have a better clue. Thank you for posting this and educating us. God help.

  • FEMA WILL NOT HELP IF YOU ARE WHITE.. !!.. I Have Proof.. They Discriminates aginst Whites.. FEMA is RACIST !!

  • You are right Sandy. FEMA is racist against whites. FEMA is designed to help the non contributing useless members of society. The government knows that the whites will pick up and make it own their own. Hang in there Sandy--Bridge City will come back. Our prayers are with you all.

  • I was in New Orleans when HK hit. After it with through I came downstares and there was no downstares It was Flooded up to the top steps. I could not stay there I knew I would of gotten sick. Well, I got out of there the red cross came and picked the survivers up. But my point is I know what these people are going through to loose every thing. I couldint rebuild my house because it was rented but these people can Im glad to see they are.

  • I'm from Orange. I helped my friends in Bridge City rip everything out of their homes under 4 feet. Think about it thats EVERYTHING they own. Sure some pictures and books were saved if they were above that. People aren't throwing everything out to get paid. The city wasn't just flooded with water. It was flooded with salt water which eats away at everything & causes disease. The people from southeast Texas are hard workers who pay taxes unlike most from New Orleans, why don't they deserve help?

  • my last comment was for crowmagg and pacificcoast.. I am soo mad I forgot to put that.

  • This community has been dealt a HORRIBLE blow by mother nature and we will rebuild and overcome this. What you see out in peoples yards are everything they own and are NOT salvagable due to the waste, bacteria etc that was in the water from the surge. These people in BC would much rather keep the things that are out by their curb than have to START OVER! Have a little compassion for them. May God have mercy on you if you EVER have to go through anything of this magnitude in your lifetime

  • You people with all your negative comments on here are making me sick. I live in BC and was very fortunate to not have flooding in my home but all of my friends and family here did. We are hard working, middle class people who go to our jobs every day, raise our children to be good people, pay our taxes, insurance premiums and also support all the people in this country that are on WELFARE for their entire lives.

  • Mama--pay no attention to those comments. They are made from people who are nothing but absolute losers. They are made by people that are weakminded and would not fit into society anywhere other than the dark corner they hide in while they write their lame comments. The people of Bridge City WILL survive!

  • Your right about that it will be awhile before everything is back to normal. But were from BC and nothing ever normal in BC.GO CARDINALS

  • wat is every 1 talkn about 10/3/8? and yes i have seen pics on iowa, i got a email and it is really bad there too. oh yeah, if obama is sooo concerned why does'nt he come to bc? oh i forgot....... !!!!nevermind, i want to say it.

  • Im from Bridge City and we will rebuild our town,

  • That is what We said, after Hurricane Katrina, and now We are rebuilt... I can remember going down to the beach, after the storm, and not being able to realize where I was, because everything I remembered was gone. It will be some time before you find "normal."

  • Probably the size and scale of the disaster leaves most people with few options.

  • why is it that people on the coast bitch all the time but the folks up in iowa with the floods just did what they had to do and got shit done? I mean you didn't see them rioting and screaming for fema to help them. They just kept cool and did what needed to be done.

  • :) Some of the houses in this community were totally destroyed. There is a difference between a flood, and all the walls being blown out by 100 mph winds, and parts of roofs being ripped off.

  • they are still destroyed. It just seems that down there people want help from the gov more.

  • what can you expect your entire house is destroyed. the floods in missouri and iowa are just floods but you still have your house to go back to.

  • that many people bitching all at once isnt a coincidence maybe. think about it. whether you know the reason or not, there must be one.

  • @SPCkeith Um we didnt riot, and didnt bitch in Bridge City. We had no help, and no media coverage. We rebuilt and are a new community. You must be confused with New Orleans, and don't dare compare Texans to New Orleanians or anyone else for that matter.

  • Just 4 a time stamp-(Many That I know Have Had Some strange Experiences lately.

One Saw A Shape all of a sudden Within His Eyesight Thought it was something on his eye like a fiber but no he could still see the pulsating light in the shape of a " C "

Said It Was Like A Prismatic Liquid Light. Blue White/Grey Clear. And He Was Not The Only One That Saw It.Also Someone Else Heard The Words During A Lucid Dream 10-29 "Love Will Be Washed Away With Cloth on Friday" What Does That Mean? 10-3-08 ? : (

  • seawater mixed with raw sewage and god knows what else- it ruins everything, furniture, appliances, vehicles, drywall, clothing, anything it touches will never be fully cleaned even if you soak it in lysol for a year. The only way they could have done it is if absolutely everything they owned wasn't there, and even areas that have never flooded before were underwater. The surge pushed crap 35 40 miles inland up through the bayous and estuaries.

  • has that person been to bridge city, or has he just seen videos? guess wat i live there and it is hard to salvage things that have sat in waste for over a week. this is not new orleans, and i promise we will not be in fema trailers in two years. Go hug another tree!!!!!

  • I graduated bridge city, class of 86. My mom and dad and my brother still live there. These videos were shot when I helped my brother shovel 3 - 4 inches of mud out of his house. We (you and I) both know what kind of people live in BC. They are down but not out - they will recover and rebuild. While the people of new orleans let their city fall down around them, the people of BC will rebuild.

  • WOW!!!

I was in Louisiana with after IKE and where we were was nothing like that.

  • How did things fare at your place?

  • they take everything out because of mold... it can grow very fast and it can creep up on stuff.

I didn't see that much plastic. Plastic bags, yea. I saw appliances and furniture, too.

Also... a lot of the water is contaminated. It's very difficult to determine what can and can not be salvageable nowadays.

  • why were they ignored my the media?

if i lived around there could i dumster dive per say and get alot of kewl shit?

saw alot of plastic and such wheres the water damage? im all for hitting big multi billion doller company's but will this just raise the premium (sp?) in the long run?

  • When the water came up, the sewers flooded and started running into the streets. This means the water and mud is contaminated. Do you want human waste material on your furniture?

  • oh i see why i dint know my bad yea its trash

  • wow

  • Its all the governments fault. They make hurricanes now didn't you know? I mean come on no way in hell that a hurricane would naturally hit new orleans or there. Its just imposable without someone making it go there. Vote obama 08' he feels sorry for you guys and will stop the government from killing you and destroying your houses.

    Peace, love and drugs.

  • the government does not make hurricanes. They dont make them go towards new orleans what makes them go in that direction is warm waters and there is super warm waters in the gulf tracking right towards that part of the country. we can blame the government for many things...this is not one of them

  • Oh I know but everyone on his site seems to think differently. Most think bush is reasonable for everything from pet food spills to low water levels in rivers that disable to barges. I left his site because it seems that common since is not welcome. I don't care what they say bush isn't sending people out to burn corn fields to raise the price of ethinal. And hes not sending hurricanes to new orleans to kill the blacks and raise oil prices.

  • Are you on meth?

  • Should I be?

  • there are areas that are considered a no flood zone. yes we all choose to live here but Lord knows the people in Bridge City do not expect "fema or insurance companies to buy them all new stuff". the people in this town are not the same as the ones in new orleans. to be honest ur comment seems rude.

  • Who would have ever thought across from Hattons Elem. would flood? A lot of these people were caught unprepared. My mom and dad live in Dugas addition, they got over 9 feet of water in their house. But they had flood insurance. A lot of people that lived out on round bunch did not have flood insurance.

  • not everthing can be salvage clothes, pictures, furniture ,and personal items.Come to Bridge City and see whats left of my hometown. We are not like New Orleans, all we want to do is to rebuild are homes and town.

  • What do you mean? You think the people of New Orleans don't want to rebuild their homes and their town?

You would think after all Bridge City has been through that the last thing you all would want to do is talk down about other storm victims. On the other hand, it is good (?) to see Ike didn't change Bridge City's people at all.

  • In case you do not know what a flood does, it washes the human waste out of the sewers and into your house. Most of those houses had 3 - 9 feet of water, 2 - 3 inches of marsh mud, mixed with human waste and dead animals. I killed 2 snakes in my brothers house with getting the 3 - 4 inches of mud out of it.

  • crowmagg is NOT right. before you get all environmental, that stuff is DRYING outside. read the title- these people are CLEANING. they are HOMELESS. everything is not trash. they're keeping everything they can, but they can't keep it in their house because they had 9 feet of water with debris, snakes, and human waste! and to add to your FEMA comment, maybe you should look up some more videos, from this storm because these people are NOT getting help and living out of their cars- it's sad

  • Have you ever dealt with FEMA or an insurance company? They really aren't very helpful.

  • you are an idiot...I invite you to take a trip to the great town of BC and see what they are all doing to overcome this. It is not their "CHOICE" to discard these items. These families were not allowed back into the city for several days and once they were, very little could be saved. The mold had already taken over in their homes and they have to remove everything. Maybe you should think about what you would do before you criticize these people. They are not looking for a PAYDAY!

  • When theres a flood it washes all the shit from the sewers into the streets and houses.

So let me ask you. If I came to your house

and pissed on your dishes, and took a fat shit

in your bed, would you eat off the dishes and would you sleep in your bed? No you would not

You might was the dishes unless I shit on those too. You have no Idea what your talking about.

  • just so you know FEMA didn't pay for shit this was mostly just to get the washed away and may i note nausiating smell that they had from the water ruining it.

  • Crowmag youre an idiot. I guess with your neanderthal mentality ANYONE living along the coast of the United States from Washington to New England lives where "trappers and fisherman" should be. God youre a pathetic piece of shit. Taxpayers bear the burden? Go cry to someone who cares about what you think. The people of that town have more pride, fortitude and spirit than you will ever have. Why dont you show your cowardly face up there in Bridge City and help them instead of being a bitch?

  • Hey crownmagg, you have no idea what it is like having your home flooded out. My house got flooded with five feet of water (i live in Bridge City) and there is stuff that I wanted to save but cannot because it was all molded and damaged so I had to throw it away. I lost a whole lot of stuff especially items that are very sentimental that I was forced to throw away.

  • continued due to limit

I believe you owe everyone in Bridge City and you owe everyone else who was affected a gigantic apology for such a vile and stupid comment you made crownagg.

  • Five Stars!!

  • i work for motive LOL

  • yer vids are tha best

  • Wow. i cannot imagine...

How much flooding did you get?
