Still at 59 years old turns in a great performance of don jose he sang it back in 1990 here in chicago with great passion and power and again on a met brdcst in 03. listen to the recently posted don carlo from his met brdcst of 1989 I taped it then and was amazed how well he sang the role after hearing him do it in the original french in 1986 from San Francisco his Italian was wonderful as all he sang.

Oh my God...this makes me want to cry. Saw him in Zürich as Don Jose last night, so 24h ago I was still sitting there and listening to him live on stage...anyway, he was lovely, and this is a wonderfull video to remind me of that evening. Thank you!!
