the hollies version was also a cover. but is the most famous and best version. this is almost as good. this guy by far vocally is the best singer iv seen live
a long time I reviewed something about a tuneu time as well ... Here is it there in good form ... because we feel that we travel to far but far from where encontran to our feet .... I spoke!
Excellent cover version. I will always like the Hollies rendition best. However, of all those who've tried to do this song justice, Simply Red triumphs! Peace,All.
This is a cover of an old 1972 HOLLIES song.....which is where RADIOHEAD got the song CREEP from....York just changed the lyrics..... I heard The Hollies are getting money from the song writing credit of radiohead's creep so thats good.
Mick Hucknall is an awesome vocalist...from the 1st time I heard him on MTV (back when they played music) I knew he was one of THOSE singers...check out all his recordings; you won't be disappointed
Eu não sei porque, mas toda a vez que eu vejo o clipe original dessa música caio num choro que não tem jeito. Amo essa música, já amava com os hollies. Talvez seja a declaração mais linda de amor do mundo.
great performance, and I remember hearing Simply Red's cover on the radio as a kid and this brings me back. Great song, great cover, and Mick's voice is awesome.
Agreed, this cover as well as the Hollies cover are both great. For a real treat, check out the original recording of this song by Phil Everly, produced by Warren Zevon. It can be found on YouTube also.
The original version of this is found on the CD of "It never Rains In Southern Cailifornia" by Albert Hammond...the writer of the song. It was heard by Duane Eddy and he had Phil Everly record the song for his solo project called "Star Spangled Springer" on RCA Records. The Everly version was produced by Duane Eddy. Duane, wanted to release the song as a single. Phil and RCA picked another song instead.
A year later...The Hollies heard the Everly version and recorded it that night.
"the Hollies are better" it's a great cover of a great song you fuckin' lunkheads!! Check out the studio track with Sly and Robbie and tell me it is worse than the original
I never knew Simply Red did a version of this song. Certainly is different but not bad at all. Mick Hucknall is a great singer and this version is very soulful. Thanks for the post, I really like it!

not bad,
but surly their horn section could have improvised something to replace the orchestral interlude from the original?

Why the hell can't they hold the long note in the song: "All I need is the air that i breeeeeeeeeeaaatttthhhhheeee."
How annoying. That's just laziness because its not that hard to hold that note. And with back-up singers? Come on!
All very skilled singers and they didn't bother to pull off the heart of the song. Someone relay this to Simply Red dude.

well beth, it's called musical interpretation. just because one version is arranged that way does not mean that is the only way to play and sing it.
