My logic is that Crosby was on a scoring tear until he played against Zetterberg, and now he has been almost completely shut down. Zetterberg is playing against Crosby and you can OBSERVE the results. He is not playing against Lemieux. Likely he would have had more ability to adjust to the pressure. Even Malkin has more ability to adjust to the pressure than Crosby. Malkin is the real Penguins superstar.

I remember as watching hockey as a kid. I watch hockey now, and it makes me want to cry. The only way I will become an avid fan like I was as a kid is if the NHL and Gary Bettman comes to it's senses. I mean it really makes me want to cry. I would love to see a canadian league. Obviously it wouldnt be as high calibre because of the salary situation, but atleast the game would be played the way canadians designed it to be played. OK, the gear changes come over time, but when it gets to the point where if a stick touches another player its a hook, clean checks and physical plays result in more penalties; also as a result of the increase in penalties players dive to embellish calls. You may be a fan of this kind of hockey, but im more of a fan then the style that had gone on 70 years prior.

Players like crosby, malkin, ovenchkin, etc. are allowed to be 'skilled' because the game is given to them lightly. Try putting them on the ice back in the day with players like Probert, Kocer, and Domi in a day in age where diving would have had you laughed out of the NHL.
Captains like Steve Yzerman, Joe Sakic, and hell even Lemieux.. all excelled in an NHL thats was 1000 tougher.. While Crosby receives praise for dives and being +3 in the regular season.. and still, 1st round draft picks

And for a few more facts, just to show what the league thinks of Crosby: 197 current NHL players were surveyed on specific topics in the NHL in I believe 2008. I can't remember the specific percentages but I do remember the majority votes.
Best Leader: Iginla, followed closely by Lidstrom and Sakic. Crosby nowhere to be found.
If a played could have another player's skill, who'd they pick: Ovechkin.
Biggest Whiner: Crosby with 54%. Second place was Avery with I believe 9%.

You draft based on what you know of a player, not the unforeseeable future. it's OBVIOUS that there have been good picks late in the draft in the past..you would argue with a rock wouldn't you? give it a rest.

when you spend all that effort and focus to shut down one player, it tends to let the rest of the team produce. which is exactly what they did. i don't blame them looking at his playoff production up to that point. crosby has a cup, and you are mad because of it. so much of your energy spent on hating one player.

they didn't JUST have zetterberg on him. they did a lot of line shuffling to make sure he was taken care of whenever he was on the ice. zetterberg was not always on him. and that "he should have been suspended" crap happens every year. they are always reluctant to do that in the playoffs and influence the outcome. it isn't something new. and there were other instances of it in the playoffs.

No, not every year, just when they come in last or second to last, like every other team in the league. That's how the draft works ya know. Crosby was also a lottery pick, there was no guarantee the Pens would get that pick, that was pure luck. You need to get over this whole draft thing, really. Every team in the league has gone through periods of sucking and getting better because of good draft picks. It's like that in every professional sport, end of story.

plus/minus is a solid indicator of 5-on-5 play. Zetterberg is a far better player than Crosby. this is why Crosby was on a scoring tear through the playoffs, and the minute Z steps on the ice Crosby has 1 goal in 5 games.

My logic is that Crosby was on a scoring tear until he played against Zetterberg, and now he has been almost completely shut down. Zetterberg is playing against Crosby and you can OBSERVE the results. He is not playing against Lemieux. Likely he would have had more ability to adjust to the pressure. Even Malkin has more ability to adjust to the pressure than Crosby. Malkin is the real Penguins superstar.

It's funny how when Detroit gets beat, they just know they messed up and they fix it, they don't start throwing elbows, slashing the opposing team and playing dirty. Every other team does that and it's because they THOUGHT they were better, they thought they could handle detroit, then the wings show them the error of their ways.

You can't be serious. Anyone with a brain knows the reason the penalty minutes are skewed like that is because of all the dumb penalties Pittsburgh took after game 5 was out of hand and they lost composure.
Anaheim took a ton of dumb penalties, and Chicago also had a meltdown game where they paraded to the penalty box. All of these things are why the Wings' opponent PIM is so high. Use your brain.
