Not too mention his MMS completely dropped the ball reagrding safety regs & inspection. At least his golff game is better
Obama can start by kicking his own ass. Not even spoken with CEO BP - he could have contacted every oil company - had every possible resource collectively -every oil recovery ship and had them all there all working together - brought in the military -no sent swat team to hide evidence. He's looking for an ass to kick - blame game. Utter failure as President. wow.
It is still debated whether the oil dispersed as an aerosol by a tornado can reach explosive quality. That this situation is far from hypothetical was demonstrated by the U.S. "mother of all bombs". Based on the same oil dispersion principle, with 16,000 lbs of explosive aerosol inside, it is equivalent to 88,000 pounds of TNT!
The amount of the oil dispersed in a form of an aerosol in the tornado epicenter can be enormous. The extreme explosive capacity of the oil aerosol can be devastating!
Newly-released documents show government regulators exempted BP from a comprehensive environmental review of the project that resulted in the spill. The Minerals Management Service granted BP a categorical exclusion from a full review before approving the project . Obama recieved 3 million dollars from BP. The media silence is mind-boggling, to say the least .
@seablackk Obama got $3 million total from the oil industry & its employees and PACS. He got $900,000 from BP, the most of any candidate. Like Fannie Mae, his major donors seem to spin out in crisis and then get bailed out. (foreshadowing). You can find his donors on opensecretsDOTcom 4 of his top 10 were real estate & finance. Along with Marx-loving Universities.
The Gm so called bailout was a LOAN,that is being paid back with interest,it was not a grant.Well pretty soon he is going to have to take control of oil rigs.because the private sector is failing at it.Just ask bobby jindal.Just ask him if he minds if oil is washing up at his shoreline.
@MrTabby5000 He fired the GM & blocked the union contract from being reformed. That is not evidence of smaller govt. Taking control is not something a "moderate" would do. In fact, it is unAmerican. I've read what Jindhal has to say. He certainly doesnt want to limit drilling in the Gulf Coast. I am still wondering why--after 3 weeks and despite expert advice---there has not been a controlled burn yet... The most pro-environment admin in history is doing "nada."
@MrTabby5000 You can verify democrats hoping for the worst by going to CSPAN's website and listening to the day of this report. Several callers said they hoped for an escalated disaster in order to end the evil energy trade once and for all. At the expense of the environment, no less.
It is great to see Republicans demanding "BIG" government come to the rescue of a negligent corporation and the disaster they caused. Why are you not angry at BP and Halliburton? Or are they just innocent victims?
@adamsfall As the video states, SMALL government has done more to block the oil from coming ashore than has BIG govt. Alabama Governor Bob Riley called on the National Guard to build an emergency barrier. What has Barack done? Smaller govt is simply more effective. Why would I be angry? One would think environmentalist would be more interested in stopping the oil from coming ashore than they are. You left out the MMS--whose job it is to oversea offshore drilling safety procedures.
What do you mean that he did not respond? The oil has to be contained so it CAN be cleaned up. Maybe if BP had not lied about the amount of oil spilling it would have helped. This disaster was not only man made, but the result of negligence and de-regulating by Republicans. With Katrina, thousands upon thousands of human lives were in IMMEDIATE peril and supplies were TURNED AWAY. Apples and oranges. Once again, like with the banks and coal mines, private corporations are ruining us.
@adamsfall One could contain and cap at the same time. A control burn doesnt depend on the oil leak being plugged or capped. The objective is to stop the oil from coming ashore. So when the disaster is natural, then its Bush's fault. When it's man-made, then Obama has no culpability in responding? Brilliant. Do you like buying energy from OPEC? Private employees certainly dont complain while cahsing their private pay check.
@NaturalLifeForce The US Military was experimenting with Tsunami causing bombs in WW2. Though I am not sure what either has to do with the Gulf Oil Spill.
Arent republicans always complaining that government is interfering with capitalism by regulation?Bp caused the spill with their negligence, look up their safety record.
@MrTabby5000 Then he is the most radical "moderate" in the history of the US. So moderate that he has taken over GM & Chrylser, blocked them from bankruptcy & reforming union contracts. He fired GMs CEO. This was before he limited pay in the Finance Sector & refused banks to repay TARP--which he respent on interest rates. He took over Student Loans & Health Care. Small you say? Again, the AL Governor has done more than The One Re the spill. I am pointing out his enviro-hypocrisy.
this crises will not!!! be let to go to waste...for those who will run for election this nov. and those who want the U.S.A. to never leave the middle east wars.
@swiftyread a war of religion is un winnable by these means of fighting them---this conflict we are now committed to and the one coming with Iran is based on thousands of years of religious HATE---we are stuck in the middle---do not believe the weapons of mass deception---think about the conflicts in those lands through out history---the only way to win is to pull out a.s.a.p. and save thousands of lives--they that have fought will continue on for another 1,000 years--its there HISTORY = FUTURE-
@uraTruthNotSee I take the opposite view. I think we could end the war by establishing Permanent Military Bases in Iraq, Afghanistan and in Israel.
Remember, it is their religious fanaticism that attacked us. And will continue to do so. Leaving them there to their own devices would cost thousands of lives.
There was never any thought given to saving the oil as if it could be recovered. That is not what they do in an oil spill situation.
The "seepage" in this case is obviously not natural so I'm not sure what the relevancy of that point is.
As for the "controlled burn" I suspect the reason would be simply the scale of the spill. At the moment this spill covers an area larger than Rhode Island. That is just huge. I wonder if it would be possible burn it and contain it at the same time.
@halberthawkins They are capping the leak in 3 or 4 days to "save the oil" and prevent the oil from further escaping. The majority of oceanic oil pollution was in response to liberal callers demanding that man is destroying Almighty God's creation.
Oil molecules bond together. Although not entirely together, there are streams of oil & a controlled burn would have taken care of the vast majority of the spill. At least from what I've read...
Lets see inside deploy 911s as buildings fell with no plans hitting them and a missal was on pentagon labeled a plane that disintegrated no parts to see all to deploy a undeclared war over oil/Money
Here our new government 911 To LONG to LATE to BIG The failure of Government is all around us The DemoRepuplicans will go alone with whatever the presidents employer needs as a distraction from freedom take place End the Fed and the inside 911 games will end with them. Wake Up America
@Allamericom No planes hit the WTC buildings? A missile hit the Pentagon? You may want to inform the families of the victims at the Pentagon that they relatives are still alive. Avatar's special effects must have nothing on the WTC then, after all, the entire nation watched on as planes flew into them... Do you live in NYC or DC? I bet not. Maybe ask the NYFD what they were taping that morning; as planes flew into the WTC... Truthers are too paranoid. Muslims really do want us dead. Simple.
To LONG to LATE to BIG The failure of Government is all around
America is to believe the cretin politicians are now oil experts. Obama stay away and find experts that can cap off the well. Are you here to cover up or make them a welfare States too? Use a bunker missal or one used to cap on the pentagon Bring back our troops we can use them here and now in this oil war. Difference between Katrina and this is Nature / Man another Obamanation of America and sea life. Wake up America
@Allamericom Nature sure played a role in the oil spill, as winds sent oil over bouys & spread it out. The way Katrina and this oil spill are alike? Late Federal Response.
Bring our troops home to fight the war on oil? What, and leave the Taliban & Al Qaeda to their own devices? You never served, did you... War on oil? Thats a good one.
Alabama called out the National Guard to buil barrier walls to stop it from coming ashore. Which is more than Barack has done to date
OPEC = Obama's Partner of Environmental Contributors.
OPEC sets the prices. American oil companies make 8 cents profit per gallon sold. The Govt makes 16 cents in tax revenue per gallon sold. Tell me who's profiting? Obama just said it in his speech. He wants to save the oil, then clean it up & then "take care" of the people. What a great set of priorities for a pro-environment "president."
if i had a choice, , i could magically stop the oil from leaking or somebody could give me 20 bucks, id take the 20 bucks and let that shit leak till it runs dry
Obama was pro more drilling, so stfu. He will still be pro drilling after this is over, he is just going to make sure there is more regulation and safety measures put in place so this doesn't happen again.
This accident only proves the inherent dangers with this type of oil extraction. Don't be bitter because some people are saying "I told you so." Most of those people are calling for an end to oil extraction, they are calling for a new direction into new renewable energies.
@toddghall Obama limited where we could drill. Pro-offshore drilling? He is so concerned, that the Fed Govt has done nothing? Last rig spill was in the 70s, when Green Peace set fire to a rig. There are 3K+ off shore rigs--1 spill in 30 yrs is dangerous? Now, Liberals are hoping the disaster escalates, to end off-shore drilling. Pro-Environment?
If renewable energies were a viable alternative, then why do they need tax payer money? We have only explored about 2% of our natural resources.
Yes, a spill of this magnitude every 30 years is extremely dangerous. If you move away from oil rigs, we have had 2 major spills now in 20 years: Valdez and Gulf. Not to mention the numerous small spills.
You over exaggerate that liberals are hoping the disaster escalates. More of them are pro environment, it is illogical to think they want the environment destroyed more. I mean, come on, really???
Renewable energies are viable, just less profitable. It's all about the money.
@toddghall & very rare. Dangerous to who? How is Prince William doing now? They are fully recovered, so who's exaggerating?
To verify--go to CSPAN. Search Washington Journal, May 3. Listen to the Democrat call-ins. 1 even said this was God telling us not to use oil b/c it is destroying His Creation. He put man on God's level.
If renewable energy were viable, explain why it costs so much? Clearly, it isn't viable. And the Govt is handcuffing American industrialism by refusing exploration
Dangerous to everyone who lives on the planet. The planet's resources are not unlimited and the planet takes years sometimes hundreds or thousands of years to heal from certain environmental damage.
Again, you can not condemn all people for what one person says. IMO, belief in God is ignorance by itself.
Renewable energy is viable it is simply not as profitable. Oil will not last forever, especially not at the rates it is being consumed now.
@toddghall Just re-read this: "Belief in God is ignorance by itself?" I disagree. Ignorance is result of a lack of information. Example, did you know that the Catholic Church first introduced the Big Bang Theory? Perhaps some are ignorant to what faith is & a bit hubris to think it ignorant for others (including every US President) to believe in a Higher Power. Without God, America's rights do not exist=Divine Providence. We added "created equal", right to liberty & pursuit to the New Testament

@Allamericom If the war was for oil& money, then why are liberals preventing America from drilling right here?
If it were for money & oil; why not attack Venezuela or Saudi? Iraq contributes only 5% to OPEC. The war for oil argument is for the weak minded...

Simple.

Allamericom 1 year ago
@Allamericom Nature sure played a role in the oil spill, as winds sent oil over bouys & spread it out. The way Katrina and this oil spill are alike? Late Federal Response.
Bring our troops home to fight the war on oil? What, and leave the Taliban & Al Qaeda to their own devices? You never served, did you... War on oil? Thats a good one.
Alabama called out the National Guard to buil barrier walls to stop it from coming ashore. Which is more than Barack has done to date

BP = Barack Pandering.

Don't be bitter because some people are saying "I told you so." Most of those people are calling for an end to oil extraction, they are calling for a new direction into new renewable energies.
toddghall 1 year ago
@toddghall Obama limited where we could drill. Pro-offshore drilling? He is so concerned, that the Fed Govt has done nothing? Last rig spill was in the 70s, when Green Peace set fire to a rig. There are 3K+ off shore rigs--1 spill in 30 yrs is dangerous? Now, Liberals are hoping the disaster escalates, to end off-shore drilling. Pro-Environment?
If renewable energies were a viable alternative, then why do they need tax payer money? We have only explored about 2% of our natural resources.
swiftyread 1 year ago
@swiftyread
It's all about the money.
toddghall 1 year ago
@toddghall & very rare. Dangerous to who? How is Prince William doing now? They are fully recovered, so who's exaggerating?
To verify--go to CSPAN. Search Washington Journal, May 3. Listen to the Democrat call-ins. 1 even said this was God telling us not to use oil b/c it is destroying His Creation. He put man on God's level.
If renewable energy were viable, explain why it costs so much? Clearly, it isn't viable. And the Govt is handcuffing American industrialism by refusing exploration

@swiftyread
Oil will not last forever, especially not at the rates it is being consumed now.
toddghall 1 year ago
@toddghall Just re-read this: "Belief in God is ignorance by itself?" I disagree. Ignorance is result of a lack of information. Example, did you know that the Catholic Church first introduced the Big Bang Theory? Perhaps some are ignorant to what faith is & a bit hubris to think it ignorant for others (including every US President) to believe in a Higher Power. Without God, America's rights do not exist=Divine Providence. We added "created equal", right to liberty & pursuit to the New Testament
