No, you've got your scenes mixed up. In the saloon, there is only ONE bounty hunter. The other cowers outside. In this scene Josey tells him "Dyin' ain't much of a livin'". In an earlier scene, Josey is leaving a general store when the carpetbagger ID's him and he has to face 4 union solders. That's when he asks if they're gonna pull them pistols.

most of this movie was filmed in and around Oroville CA, about 15 miles from where i live. a friend of mine was an extra in this movie. the river he crosses on the hand ferry is the Feather river, which i have caught many a salmon and steelhead in.....one of the best westerns of all time....bar none...

Usually I like Eastwood-movies, yeh, and probably this is a great movie. Seen all the Dirty Harry's, Escape from Alcatraz and most westerns incl. I understand the need to go for the quick laughter with the obvious name and spit scenes, but it cut short some of the greatest parts of this movie. I was actually dissapointed when this ended because there was a wealth of good clips, but all were cut short by the need to get to the next scene of spit or names.
