@WarcraftAddicts just make sure you get books and do research and make sure you have time, and money just in case he/she would get sick! Make sure you ADOPT DO NOT BUY!
@NatalyLuv2Swim They are easy to break. The cockatiel sized ones should just crumble up easily by breaking them with your hands. The Amazon and macaw sizes are hard to break.
@pencilluna10 Same thing... Don't get the actual "Budgie Nutriberries" because those have millet, and a lot of times millet is infected and can really get your bird sick...
@kunimit Get speakers? Haha. They said roudybush crumble: 1 pinch for each bird. Cockatiel nutriberries: about two per day. And avi cakes, I would give about two-three... And, if he/she eats all of that, add a little more each day until there is still a little left. ;)
@ponysaddle223 The avicakes. Most of the time they are lacking protein, not fat. The avicakes is a great source and added years to our Pigwidgeon's life.
thank you so much! when i had my first love bird we fed her only seeded foods and she got very sick and ever since then ive given them pellets and dried food. but i wonder if it will hurt them. thank you again.
ahaha thats rly cool, no joke my uncle, Tom Roudybush the author of How To Teach A Bird To Talk, made the roudybush bird feed so yeah thanks for using the roudybush bird feed
Hi! I was just wondering, what kind of Nutri-berries do you use? I went to the store and didn't know what type to buy: the vegetables one, or the fruits one, or the other one I don't remember what it's called... but I didn't know which one to buy! And is the Avi-Cakes supposed to be like really soft/mushy? Or supposed to be crunchyish? I bought a bag and not sure if it's old or not...
Hi! I've been watching all your videos and i'm basically addicted. I am going to be getting a cockatiel soon and was curious. Is the Roudybush crumbles to small for a cockatiel or should i maybe get the bigger sized pieces? I'm also going to go out on a limb and order some nutriberries as a treat because watching BeBe in the cup was just to cute.
I was just wondering if its alright to feed my lovebirds (getting them in a week) other bird food (canary, budgie ect.) because the only shop that sells bird food in my area sells those kind
should order your type online or just go with the local stuff?
That is a good idea to use the Roudybush along with crumbled Avi-cakes and Nutriberries. I use Roudybush low fat mini pellets mixed with an assortment of thirteen different ingredients including hulled oats, hemp seed and fruits and veggies. I use the Nurtriberries as a treat.
The oats and hemp seed is mostly fat, fruits contain a lot of sugar, and just veggies alone is not a reliable source of nutrition. If you want a true, natural source of nutrition sprouts are the true way to go. This is what birds truly eat in the wild. Nutriberries are more than a "treat," they are very nutritious. I have seen many birds come from malnutrition to complete health thanks to them.
I would like to have a love bird in the future. I've been trying to learn as much as I can before I decided to get one. I know they live a long time so I want to make sure I have the time for him or her. It wouldn't be fair for them to sit in a cage all day. anyway your videos have helped me out a lot! I learn something new every time i watch one :D
Our Ashlee eats the same as the lovebirds as well as the budgies. We also feed our birds: Crazy Corn with mixed veggies, some fruit, SPROUTS, and wheat grass.
With this food, when you combine them all at once, do u bowl the mix too? or just mix it dry together in their bowls? I plan to get the mix for my own cute lovebird. Also, what type of fruits or veg. do u recommend to be the best and how do u serve it to the love birds?
All in the bowl together. Sprouts are better for your bird than fruits or veggies, but just about anything except avocado and iceberg lettuce is fine.
I bought a new package of Lafeber's Avicakes and found some strange webbing. It's either from a spider or some kind of moth. I'm worried, should I be feeding Aspen this?
I think there's a possibility that there are eggs. Should I refrigerate it to kill them? Is it possibly bad for him?
I am guessing you bought it at a pet store such as a retail pet center or mom and pop shop. Their food can stay on the shelves for weeks even months (it was probably hard as a rock when you got it. When people order from us it is fresh because it comes straight from the makers. So I would take it back or freeze it, not in the fridge.
Hi, me again. My vet (avian vet) recomended Lafeber's pellets for my budgie. Have you ever tried them/what is your opinion on them compared to Harrison's and Roudybush?
My bird is on lifetime granules. He loves it, but I just came back with El Paso nutri-berries! I'm wondering when should I feed him this. (as a snack) In the morning or afternoon?
Thank you very much. I have been feeding my lovie forti-diet and its nice to know it is better as a treat. This diet you show helps me out by giving me a better idea on what to feed my bird.
My birds love it It is very expensive here in Montreal but they are worth it. My birds are doing great they have eggs. and now I am starting to find food in there water like a soup Do I throw it out or should I leave it there and add another water bowl? I crumble there food very small. Thank-you for the advice in advance. If you ever write a book I will be the first one in line to buy it.
Haha! You have soup-makers! Our lovies do this all the time. It is good to just dump the water out when you find a lot of food in there. You don't want bacteria or such growing in their water. When we find "soup," it's usually because they are softening something up or we didn't crunch it up good enough.
Thank-you you would never believe how much your videos have help me.I went out and bought all the food you showed on the video only the forti diet I did not buy I give them Sunny orchard and Garden veggie Nutri Berries because they don't eat fruit and veggies
I was wondering, is it okay to give them treats like the fruit nutriberries and rainbow food every now and then? I only fill their treat bowl every few days. nn;
Thanks for posting this. I've actually put my lovebirds on Nutriberries a month ago ( after seeing this ) and they love them. I already had them on Roudybush pellets and Higgins Cockatiel seed. So, now they get half the seed/pellets and half nutriberries everyday. I also give them a tiny bowl of Exact Rainbow for Lovebirds and 2-3 tropical fruit nutriberries.

how many nutriberries do i need for parakeets?
vivi3722 9 months ago
Seed diets are terrible for birds. Pellets with fresh fruits and vegetables are far superior and your birds will live longer.

Roudybush food is great, so is Lafeber's.
Both of their formulas are pretty good, although I prefer Roudybush. Definitely beats that Kaytee stuff they call a formula.

Yes the diet works for smaller birds, but we now recommend a higher grade of see mix for birds. Only use the seed for a treat not a complete meal.
