  • All your doing is compensating for the unevenness in your legs by moving your left foot backwards.

  • U JUST BLEW MY MIND UR THE BEST

  • i donty find that dropping both feet at the same time help me get that sound. i have to focus on moving my pedals right so i can get it that way.. any suggestions an also what are your pedals set at low medium or high or somewhere in between?

  • This is very clever, it keeps this sound smooth

  • Awesome Dude!!!!! Absolutely phenomenal...never knew that this could be applied.....thanks again !!!

  • what the hell is wrong with people. you're supposed to learn to play double bass. what did you think, that you were going learn how to play angel of death speed? that's advanced double bass. this is for beginners.

  • i dunno know about this technique .. i guess it would work for someone who absolutely cannot alternate between your left and right foot.. its more like a lazy double bass technique and would probably take more time to learn than actually trying too do it right by alternating left to right on tempo.. just sayin but good vid for what its worth

  • i bought double bass pedals today. i watched this video and i tried them out. good god i fucking sucked balls

  • when he goes fast... his legs go down alternate[starting 3:35]... notice carefully..

  • fascinating. probably wont use this (reminds me of a race condition), but fascinating all the same

  • ok wait, you said it takes 10-15 minutes, then said 2-3 days. wtf?

  • gret vid!

  • get to the point man!

  • thank you, this video did wonders for me.

  • Poor

  • that is NOT fast

  • can't believe i wasted my time watching this video, I my self have pretty poor technique when it comes to double pedals but this guy plays lyk i used to play when just starting out on double pedals.

    awful just awful..

  • It doesn't sound the same and everybody can tell mate...

  • how you gonna play triplets etc with this technique? Bad lesson guys, do not listen!

  • hey i have an 8 piece and just got a pearl double bass pedal but the snair and high-hat stands get in the way of the pedal? any ideas?

  • yeess a lefty sameee

  • thats pretty smart

  • do you lead off with your left foot? becuase im a right handed drummer and i lead on my right..

  • does this work the same if your using a double pedal on one drum?

  • im the same exact drummer. so this helped. thanks dude!

  • I cant see this working very very fast just quiet fast, ill try it out any how :)

  • Thank you !

  • aint tryin to hate dude, but that aint a flam, a flam is two hits on any drum, first hit softer, second hit harder, it almost says ffff LAM, hense the term, flam

  • I am a lefty and this video will help only when someone wants to get a feel for the double bass but people are only really gonna get frustrated when you have a change up. like odd meter ,triplets and ballistic beats.good for straight forward but gonna get confused when a pattern switches like swiss triplets,etc...heel toe is a good method and less effort. I was taught from my drum instructor Joey Nunez(Roadrunner Records)recording artist from SOULFLY \m/

  • that was sexy way to play lol

  • there is an error in your link to this video. (youtu.be) there should not be a dot in youtube.

  • The problem with this is that you actually are dropping your feet in alternating singles, your foot position forces you to, that's why it works. But once you want to do things other than straight alternating singles it'll be harder because you've not learnt control.

Try alternating between 2 beats of quarters, then two of triplets, you'll see what I mean, try accenting, this is ok to get a nice sound quick, but not good beyond that.

    No offence. :D

  • Brilliant !

It Helped me a lot dude !

  • cheers dude! really helpful

  • dude this helps thanks

  • basically this is how a guy figured out double bass on his own.. thats fine and dandy but its really a shitty way to introduce double bass. but im not hating this video will help someone

  • This is a bad method in my opinion. I think you just have to learn the hard way and make sure each hit is even. Do exercises with your left foot, perhaps use left foot only for a few complicated patterns.

  • haha im a lefty too, play exact same way, works good :)

  • I've been wanting to play double bass for years and have never found a "trick". I've never been able to play it smooth or consistently. This looks like just the trick I've needed all these years to make this work!

    Thanks for taking the time!

    B

  • thanks for the tip! and fuck the haters!

  • please stop talking about pants...

  • i dont care about u pulling ur pants up. get to the point ffs...

  • haha, im weird too. i do most of my hand work righty and i do most of my foot stuff lefty

  • Doesn't work.

  • Im left handed to:o

  • but how would you do triplet bass beats?

  • @vikings580 Heel toe w/ an extra toe hit

  • I think im gunna find this usefull ive been doing the 1 two but i think this sound better ... cheers :)

  • thank you

  • @clayboy7 yes i am.... i hate paople who talk shit about someone who is only trying to help. as far as repenting and all that you need to go read a bible and shut the fuck up commenting on me alter boy

  • @ebalim i just hate it when people obviously watched the video because they are learning and then talk shit... then if you are already good and watch it to post negative stuff you should get a life

  • @XxFIANNELXx its FEET not foots you dumb fuck. And post your own vidoe before you talk shit hater. And if you meant foot is put foot is dumbass

  • @XxFIANNELXx its FEET not foots you dumb fuck. And post your own vidoe before you talk shit hater.

  • If you listen it's more of a gallup.. not double bass.

  • Jesus there are too many fucking haters these days! If you don't like the video and think he sucks then wtf are you watching a drum lesson video for? If you are so good make your own video and shut the fuck up! Damn. Keep it up bro if you don't have haters u ain't doin it right

  • @moosedrummer1 got that 100100% rightttt i mean damn really i mean damn cmon guys i mean daaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • @moosedrummer1 Well said man. Fuck off with all those.

  • @moosedrummer1 - What do you think you're then. A hater too. :-/, and how in the world do you dare use the Name of JEsus, the name above all names, along with some filthy words that comes out of a heart full of hate? Repent man. and seek God's Forgiveness. No kidding///

  • @moosedrummer1 you are saviour!:)

  • @moosedrummer1 Obviously you did not watch this whole video. Never ever should a "bad" or "wrong" technique be taught. You need to do it right or you will play it wrong for life. Bad lesson, and it should be taken off of youtube.

  • @moosedrummer1

great video dude. this really worked for me cause im left handed and everything just like you, so it worked. i combined this tech with the swivel tech, and its no work andvery energy saving, try it man

  • @moosedrummer1 NO NO NO. Did you watch this whole video? I suggest you watch the WHOLE thing. If you know anything, you should know that learning a technique that is WRONG then you are really hammpering someones development. It has nothing to do with hating. Watch the whole video again and then maybe you will realize how wrong it is to put videos like this on youtube.

  • @jordanjcm there is nothing wrong with his technique he is just showing his method

  • @iMuTiLaTe ???? He could screw up a young drummer if he teaches "his method" . It is not a method. Did you watch the whole thing? Once someone learns bad habits it can really make it hard to learn good habits. I can not believe I am explaining this. Are you a musician?

  • @jordanjcm Well I don't play like he does but I still think its alright for him to display his method

  • @iMuTiLaTe You just don't grasp it. If he did the same thing with his sticks and called it a "techniqe" it is just plain wrong and should not be shown. Bad techniques will only bring BAD playing. are you a musician ? If you were, then you would understand about learning and practicing and proper and improper techniques. Obviously you do not.

  • i ve always supported adidas.....

  • fuck are ur riche

  • okay also ich habs ausprobiert und es is der größte scheis :D:D:D man muss mit dem linken fuß sehr viel stärker aufs pedal treten um einen gleich lauten sound hinzubekommen :D:D es is einfach scheise ! macht es nich des is dumm <

  • and um ium do this um because um fucking annoying

  • this isnt that great... and its not even a method, its more common sense

  • foots all spacked up

  • thats stupid. when u slid ur foot down the board u started to play independently with ur feet. it didnt lookl ike u were trying to go down at the same time

  • @BrandonG1394 But he was. I tried it and it works, but really it's not something I'd use. I've always alternated between my feet before this so I'm used to the old way.

  • @BrandonG1394 That's also what it looked like to me.

  • i think this is really cool.it really helped me with double bass.

  • what crap.... everyone please disregard this lesson.....

  • i thank that arent flams they are ruffs i am not sure

  • cool thanks!

  • uhh yeah, you're not dropping your feet at the same time 'cause your adidas sneakers are not in synch :P

  • how can i download this video? i really need this lesson for my practice

  • @kulat24 google "youtube downloader"

  • hmm interesting... awesome lesson

  • no offence but im 15 and have been playing double bass for 4 months and i can already hit 220 bpm 16th notes for a long ish run without using this retarded technique

  • @1234fivesixseven8

post a video of you doing it cuz its impossible :)

  • @maqprus no its not just look on the web and i am posting videos after christmas mate as i dont have a camera or good enough computer to upload

  • your doing flams btw

  • @RollerDiscoNightmare he said that lol

  • pretty jammy

  • You're not that old Pud. Sort out your double bass technique properly before it's too late and this becomes your regret of your drumming career.

  • double bass rocks!! your an awesome drummer.

  • Double Bass rocks!!! your an awesome drummer.

  • nice, but that wouldn't help me when it comes to double stroke, and even just complicated beats

  • your feetarnt dropping at the same time

  • @socaldgafbro in his defense, he probably developed that while practicing. However he could of added that in the video

  • ure talking about double bass? seemes like u tell us the story of ur life

  • ha you think your so good but your not.the sad part is that you have a really good double bass pedal that is very responsive. so you suck

  • fail

  • dude your f ing kick ass

  • wtf u doin with your right foot at the beginning???

  • =Fail.

  • dude thanks ,man!!!!! i got it as i was listening to you!!!

  • It is a creative idea, and if it works for him then cool. But to any novice drummers, I would highly recommend not beating around the bush with learning double bass. It takes years, and years of practice to be able to do what all the big double bass players are doing. There's no shortcuts. Think of playing double bass as you would think of playing with your hands, both hands have to be able to do it seperately so it will be clean when you put the two together.

  • its not fast but thanks !

  • Doing it this way would work for an interesting shuffle beat but I wouldn't use it for unbroken runs of double bass. It's all shuffled, just too fast to tell at high speeds and that's why it sounds "flammed", as some readers have noted.

  • What a wanker! Don't pay any attention, kids!

  • @Jimbotheunbelievable

i want to learn how to play dubble but u are all saying he talks shit.....who could learn me how to play? i´m sorry for my bad english

  • i just tried doing this on my own drumkit, it doesnt work

  • it didnt look like you was dropping ur feet at the same time

    nice vid tho :)

  • Would honestly find doing this alot harder

Regular practise and you will get faster and smoother

I normally record my practises firstly because what you hear and what eveyone else is hearing can be every different things lol but mostly because even over the space of a week or 2 you can really hear the differance

i would 100% recomend just practise and start as slow as needed

  • yeah this guy is not talking sense, it just the like the hands guys, you dont drop back on one stick and and make a roll. Besides his feet are not moving in unison, he may be feeling it like that but they arnt. This is not a bad a drummer and it what ever he is doing seems to work, but this is not the way to start with this stuff.

  • I don't like this at all.

  • @Pill199 well then fuck you

  • good video

  • good video

  • very poor technique, normal practice is all thats required. There are no tricks like this just hard work.

  • im left handed and my whol kit is set up like a right hander

  • nice!, Aquarian Super-Kick II, i just got that head last week.....best head out there! git it, its awesome

  • Im learning to play double bass and i will definitly give this a try

  • You're SO right!!! It IS cheating! It's not even considered drumming. Drums are played by PLAYING drums- NOT making it SOUND like your playing. Don't be teaching beginners this crap. If you want to learn the right way, practice alternating strokes and short easy patterns.

  • oh my god, why think of such a difficult way.....

just do with your feet what you do with your hands, star with alternating strokes and then try to play some rudiments with your feet....no sliding down one pedal required

  • this is awful don't listen to anything in this video

  • this is crap

  • Holly shit dude!

That was bad. I mean it proly works for you but the way you explained it just sounded bad really.

Double bass involves lots of practice doing the RIGHT technique, if you gonna cheat than you never gonna be good....

Thanks for the video but please don't teach anymore crap to guys like us that wanna get into drumming.

  • i play the same way as you

  • can you play above 220 bpm with this technique???

  • Loooose tension Nuff sayd :)

  • what the eff.... dont like the slide the foot advice thats bad technique. guys please dont use this as a crutch and learn it the right way

  • you talk to fucking much man, get to the point, Thats what we're all here for.

    Otherwise groovy tip dude

  • wow thank you so much for the advice...ive been struggling with technique on how to do this. This is going to help me out big time man.

  • Wow, what he calls a flam is actually called a drag.

  • while thinking of it as one down movement only resulted in a series of flams, moving my one foot back on the pedal and playing normally did grant me an immediate noticeable increase in speed and smoothness, thanks for the tip!

  • ios drummer your really good you kinda sound like chris adler but that's just me lol very good

  • i think it's cuz when you put your foot back it has less momentom and when your foot higher your foot has more momentom

  • Check out my double bass video (:

  • This so called "technique" could be good if not for one thing, by the time you slide you're foot down, you stop doing what you try to explain and you start playing the normal way, so what is the reason of the technique if you eventually start playing the normal way?? please explain it to me cuz I don't get it...

  • Man would u enjoy random ass people coming on ur vids saying u suck? This is a descent vid some people seem to have learned from it and if u can help one person do something u should feel accomplished

  • This is cool!!

  • haha thats pretty cool lmao thanks for the vid XP

  • never use this technique learning how to do flams is incredably easy doesnt take much time at. watch my one and only video and see how much dick this guy sucks

  • Thanks, that was really helpful. I couldn't find the balance in my double bass playing, and these tips have helped me out. Thanks a lot.

  • thnx for the help man yes u do have to switch it

  • tbh it looks like when u slide ur foot down u end up doin 1,2,1,2 lol just wat it looks like but i dnt play double atm so i wudnt no lol.

    but thnks anyway

  • dude! thats help so much x) thanks alot

  • man ur just switchen to r l r l you suck

  • OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH!

year ago I learned to play double bass, but then I didnt drum for a while and I had totally forgotten how to play double bass and I just couldnt figure my technique out, which I used last time and I guess it was this one. LUV U (even tough Im not gay lol

  • what is a trigger?

  • You're a moron pillarkutless777. Oh and yeah, putting 777 instead of 666 is real original, ass.

  • ... I wonder how your double bass would sound without your triggers?

  • personally i thought his teaching technique was crap. There are no short cuts or easy methods to double bass playing, ive tried them all and came to the conclusion that its a simple case of practicing and strengthening the calves and shins with excercises, and just persistence.

  • lol

  • honestly, that wasn't very fast. or smooth. you kinda flam your snare with your bass drum instead of hitting them at the same time. and fast would probably be considered 200 bpm and up.

  • Hey, I play Heels up, so if I wanted to practice my speed do I just play regular 16th notes at a speed I feel comfortable with? But when I do, I get tired and then I start getting sloppy, is this a good thing, if not what can I do instead.

When I play single pedal, for slow songs, I play flat, or heel up, but mostly flat foot, sometimes heel down. will this effect my drumming at all? And how do I get more control with heels up, and flat foot?

  • @Godsmack0Believe i'd say to practice a little bit out of your comfort zone, like mine is usually 200 bpm, so i get warmed up and play to a 210 bpm metranome. metranomes work wonders dude

  • So your saying, play something That I can just barly play, but not perfectly, and once I got it down, just go to a higher speed? Ive never used a metronome, hows it work, Ive got a rough Idea.

  • @Godsmack0Believe i'm saying to push your limits, but not so far that you hurt yourself. a metronome just keeps time for you. you set it to a certain BPM and then it clicks at that speed and you play to it to remain consistant.

  • play at a comfortable speed and genearlly speed up with a metronome. and do toe raises with weights to help your calf muscle strength.

  • nice dude never would have thought of it myself. damm nice drumming

  • i wouldnt call it a flam at all because thats how you develop the wrong coordination and wrong technique on your feet, and if you are doing a double stroke with your feet and a single with your hand wouldnt it be a drag?

  • alot of beatin around the bush and bulshitn to make up for your slowness... but the rythm is good... but speed could be alittle more and maybe solidity

  • haha, ur voice sounds like seth rogen. good drumming by the way.

  • @purplehalfstack IT DOES!! And he looks like Bill Muray!

  • haha yea

  • dude is that a trigger on ur left bass if it is u should make a video of u useing it

  • Thanks great idea!

  • guys, u all take this too serious. he is just showin this method so that beginnerscan start off with something. of course when u play for 2-3 years u are not gonna use this method. think about it. :D:D cheerz to all:P

  • Joey Jordison would probably slap anyone who does this. Cheating on any instrument will ultimately limit you, and when you start to get more advance you're gonna have to go back and learn things properly. So why not just learn things properly to begin with?

  • another douche who thinks joey jordison is so fast and great.....he isnt a bad drummer but hes not that fast.

  • wow this is actually immense, i heart you, thankyou so much,, all i could ever do on double bass was flams so now i dont need to learn anything else =]

  • nice info

  • dude.. its not even fast double

  • @p4intb411 speed is only 20% of drumming. its all in the rythm

  • @GHdrum

i know that but when you start into more metal drumming.. you need more speed and rythem

  • nice

  • he has nt asked to copy him....he's just tried to help!!use ur own brains.

  • just try it for yourself u douchebags and stop bitchin'!
