Zhang Yu Ming always train his orchestra to the limit that even if there's no conductor, the performance is still the best.

as he says, the job of a conductor is just to give music...

so even if he goes on the stage, he is just 'performing'...

and not to forget,

hmm. imo, maturity of the two orchs [when ge was playing this and when nyco was playing it fer syf] was too different to be compared.. so i dun think u can say nyco played better or ge played better. cus how ge arrived at this stage and how nyco achieved what they did during syf's quite different =x ahha shant say too much here C=

its not exactly fair to compare like that since both orchestras are under different conductors and every conductor has his or her own different style preferences and thus the difference in the intepretation of the piece (:

Music dones not have to be loud.

It will be bad if the Timpani overwhelms the whole Chinese Orchestra Troupe. It will affect the whole music. Especially in place like SCH, specially made for Performance. It is very sensitive in sound.

Somebody from sco tell me, SCH is more sensitive to percussion sound, because of the location of percussion instruments. So, timpani's sound will usually be amplified.

Wow.. It's really very slow but the music comes out very beautifully, full and round. Nice job. The slowness doesn't really matter with great music.. But the video-taping is indeed funny.. When the Concert Master was doing the solo, the view was not on him.. Anyway about the timpani solo, light travels faster than sound(:
