Not to mention it doesn't say much of the Luke/Noah pairing if Reid has to die in order for them to get back together (which they aren't, so whatever).
if they had to kill Reid & have him save the life of someone, the least they could of done was have it for someone we cared about. if it had been for Luke himself, or Katie or one of Luke's immediate family it would be more heroic & actually make sense, but Chris Hughes has always been an undeveloped character. they never knew what to do with him when they brought him back multiple times with a different actor playing him, nobody really got invested in him.

Do not read this if you do not like to think or talk about spoilers. I think it would be neat if Reid's long lost family member they are talking about in the spoilers is found. And Luke finds out that either Reid is related to Noah or Dr. Dixion. Reid was adopted and never new his birth family. This is something ATWT has always done, made most of Oakdale related to each other by birth, marriage or adoption.
@jakevanfan Oh no, I would hate that. I want this beautiful, refreshing, intelligent, unapologetic man to have had absolutely NOTHING to do with Oakdale. I want his life to have *changed* the town completely after his passing. Every character he touched will be affected by his death and it will move their lives forward in a new way because of him. So not only did Reid change by coming there and falling in love with Luke, but they all changed because of Reid.
The way CBS is ending this series is pathetic! I've been watching this Soap for over 30 years, and this is how everything is going to end? CBS, you've got some BIG issues! Why take an icon off the air? I still haven't understood the reasoning behind losing the soaps we all love. It's a temporary escape from the real world for alot of people, and I think alot of people need that now days! EVERYONE, post on here and tell CBS how you feel.

I am in sad disbelief as to what looks likely to happen. Soap Opera Digest included a line about the train crash in last week's edition and I have been in denial ever since. I was drawn to Luke and Noah thanks to You Tube, but have grown incredible fond of Reid Oliver with Luke over the last several months. Please let Luke and Reid ride off into the Oakdale sunset on the 17th.
Well, with just 8 episodes to go, I'm sure they wanted to make Reid go like a hero. If the show were continuing they wouldn't have done this. Hard to believe it's almost over.

Since he is not a heart specialist he should not have been caring at all medically for Chris to begin with. It all explodes when Chris nearly dies. Now Reid is in trouble serious trouble. He is now going to be investigated by the A.M.A
His secrets may surface and criminal charges will follow. He calls John Dixon for help. John knows Reid very well and likes and respects him. No one in Oakdale realizes they know each other. John chooses to keep it that way. John has not always been the most upstanding citizen, (Ya, very BIG JERK Himself in his day) so he understands Reid's dilemma and is happy to help. He also knows Reid's secrets.
By pure chance Reid is in his car driving when he happens by someone stuck on the side of road. He recognizes him as a worker from 1 of the stores down in Old City near his favorite spot, AL's Diner. He stops picks him up to take him to the nearest gas station. As they were talking and driving a deer runs onto the road, he swerves and misses the animal, but ends up stuck on the railroad tracks. The jolt of the swerve knocked his passenger out cold.
. While he is trying to wake the man he hears then sees the train coming. He starts to get out of the car and run but can't leave this man behind. The train is too close to have time to drag the man out. So he tries to get the car out of the stuck position and get off the tracks. TOO LATE! The train comes and hits them both from the passenger side.
By some miracle both are still alive, but both are seriously injured. They are rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile Chris is on his last leg with his failing heart. Luke rushes to the hospital to be told by John that Reid does not have much time left. Reid is conscious but barely, when Luke comes in to see him. They both profess their love for one another then Reid asks him to leave, so as not to watch him die. Luke does not want to leave him, but then goes when Reid insists.
John then comes into see Reid. He tells him yes, you are very badly hurt but you will survive. Unfortunately, the other man is not so lucky. John had the man tested to see if he could be a match for Chris and, another miracle, he is.
In all the chaos of Reid being brought in No one notices John fix the charts so it looks like Reid was alone in his car. The other man had no family, so sadly, no one questions the circumstances of this poor man’s accident. Reid is then secretly transported to another hospital under an assumed name under the orders of John Dixon. John then informs everyone that Reid has died. It is believed Reid was a donor and Chris is in luck.
A little over a month goes by. John comes to see Luke who is still grieving. He talks to Luke and realizes Luke knew Reid's secrets for quite awhile because when they got together Reid never lied to Luke and told him his story. Luke understood him and never thought badly of him.
. John then tells Luke , just so you know this was all my idea. Luke not understanding what he means starts to question him, but he is only given very vague answers. As John Leaves he said, OH! I almost forgot this is for you. Handing him a postcard from Montana, John tells Luke he should try going there for a short vacation it will help him and, that the clean fresh air will do him good. He turns and leaves.
Luke just stares at the post card. It simply reads, Hello, Mr. Snyder, Things are well here. This is my 1st much needed vacation. A friend once said I had no life and that I need to have some fun. He was right. When you are free come enjoy the wide open spaces and fresh air. The postcard is left with no signature. Luke stands there with almost a blank look on his face. No it can't be!
However, He can't resist the urge to hurry and pack his clothes and go to Montana. That afternoon he was on the 1st plane out of Oakdale. Unaware that John was watching him and followed him to the airport.
Luke arrives in Montana a few hours or so later. Completely exhausted in mind and body he drops his suitcase and sits down in the airport waiting area. Out of the corner of his eye he catches a glimpse of silver so turns to see the rim of a wheel chair and the man in it on his cell phone turned slightly so he could not see him clearly. Just as he was ready to dismiss it he saw the familiar way the man’s left hand had a way of moving in a nervous sort of manner.
As Luke got up to walk toward the man, the man in the chair turned toward him. Sheer shock, disbelief, some anger, and absolute relief washed over Luke all at the same time. He saw that the man had 2 casts on his legs some healing cuts on his face but otherwise looked relatively healthy. The man grabbed his crutches that were hooked to the back of his chair and stood. He stared at Luke a good long minute then replied:
Hello Mr. Snyder I’ve been waiting for you. In fact I have been waiting a very long time for you “LUKE”. He sat down again and Luke walked over to him. The man held out his hand and said, by the way I’m Ryan, Ryan Osbourne. Luke pushed his hand away and grabbed the man’s face he leaned down and kissed him long and hard. Luke pulled back slightly looking him in the eye then grinned and kissed him again.
Luke stood up then swung the wheelchair towards the exit and took this banged up but still hunk of a guy home and made passionate love to him. After several months of physical therapy Ryan Osbourne made a full recovery. Ryan and Luke lived happily ever after.
Chris also made a full recovery. Odd isn’t it how Chris, since his heart transplant never gave people the urge to kick any little puppies and he never felt the need to make the nurses cry?
8 months later Chris and Katie were married. They went on to have 3 children 2 twin girls and a boy, Danielle , Monica, and little Reid the youngest son, and of course Jacob the oldest boy making it a family of 6. Seven if you count Mr. Biggles, the children’s rabbit. Chris and Katie became the next straight Bob and Kim in Oakdale.
Five years later: Luke Awoke up in bed alone. Annoyed he got up and went outside the ranch house looked around and spotted him in the corral. He strolled over to the fence and watched as he climbed onto the wild horse.
The horse bucked and screamed for a good 5 minutes before finally giving up. He steered the breathless horse over to where Luke was standing. He looked down at him with a cocky little grin and waved his hand out toward the horse as if to say, Admit you’re impressed. Luke shook his head and snickered. Damn you really are an Urban Cowboy. At that they both laughed. He leaned over petting the sweaty horse’s neck and gave Luke a sly look. I think I’ll name this one Snarky. Written By: Monica Bryant

Someone else mentioned that ESS is going to "act the hell out of the death scene", and, to be completely honest, that's the only comfort I'm feeing so right now. And now i'm off to spend the rest of the night rocking back and forth in my seat hugging my moping cushion.
@supergurl87 Van is going to be acting hell out of the grief scenes too and don't worry Reid and Brad will be hoping on the ghostly train to haunt Chris and Katie.
In such a short period Reid Oliver has touched so many lives. Imagine how many more lives his character could have impacted had they given him and Luke a fair chance at being supercouple or at least have let him live.
The writers obviously couldn't decide between LuRe and Nuke so this is how they solve their problems??!! By killing off the shows' best character? I would rather have Luke with Noah (who I dislike) than have Reid dead! What a horrible ending to a once great soap. So disappointed!! Killing off one of the gay characters makes the show seem homophobic. I know they're not but wow. Way to fall into a cliche.
This is the stupidest ending I have seen, kill off the best character and best couple to hit ATWT in a long time to let Chris live. what a complete waste!!! Luke and Reid will live forever!!!

. I've spent 40 years watching. The last five where crap and practically unbearable. This last year they finally give me something to watch and a character that I could actually cheer for. Only to kill him off in a senseless act just to give a character I loath a heart ?I love Lure. I really do. But I now wish he'd never come to Oakhell. At lease he would still be living and breathing. Being brilliant and saving the lives of the long lists of patients who need him.

Well, with just 8 episodes to go, I'm sure they wanted to make Reid go like a hero. If the show were continuing they wouldn't have done this. Hard to believe it's almost over.

Even though it was only a bluff, he had absolutely nothing on him, Reid did not know that. So he caved and came to Oakdale. He also knows Reid's secrets.

By pure chance Reid is in his car driving when he happens by someone stuck on the side of road. He recognizes him as a worker from 1 of the stores down in Old City near his favorite spot, AL's Diner. He stops picks him up to take him to the nearest gas station. As they were talking and driving a deer runs onto the road, he swerves and misses the animal, but ends up stuck on the railroad tracks. The jolt of the swerve knocked his passenger out cold.

. While he is trying to wake the man he hears then sees the train coming. He starts to get out of the car and run but can't leave this man behind. The train is too close to have time to drag the man out. So he tries to get the car out of the stuck position and get off the tracks. TOO LATE! The train comes and hits them both from the passenger side.

By some miracle both are still alive, but both are seriously injured. They are rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile Chris is on his last leg with his failing heart. Luke rushes to the hospital to be told by John that Reid does not have much time left. Reid is conscious but barely, when Luke comes in to see him. They both profess their love for one another then Reid asks him to leave, so as not to watch him die. Luke does not want to leave him, but then goes when Reid insists.

John then comes into see Reid. He tells him yes, you are very badly hurt but you will survive. Unfortunately, the other man is not so lucky. John had the man tested to see if he could be a match for Chris and, another miracle, he is.

In all the chaos of Reid being brought in No one notices John fix the charts so it looks like Reid was alone in his car. The other man had no family, so sadly, no one questions the circumstances of this poor man’s accident. Reid is then secretly transported to another hospital under an assumed name under the orders of John Dixon. John then informs everyone that Reid has died. It is believed Reid was a donor and Chris is in luck.

A little over a month goes by. John comes to see Luke who is still grieving. He talks to Luke and realizes Luke knew Reid's secrets for quite awhile because when they got together Reid never lied to Luke and told him his story. Luke understood him and never thought badly of him.

. John then tells Luke , just so you know this was all my idea. Luke not understanding what he means starts to question him, but he is only given very vague answers. As John Leaves he said, OH! I almost forgot this is for you. Handing him a postcard from Montana, John tells Luke he should try going there for a short vacation it will help him and, that the clean fresh air will do him good. He turns and leaves.

Luke just stares at the post card. It simply reads, Hello, Mr. Snyder, Things are well here. This is my 1st much needed vacation. A friend once said I had no life and that I need to have some fun. He was right. When you are free come enjoy the wide open spaces and fresh air. The postcard is left with no signature. Luke stands there with almost a blank look on his face. No it can't be!

Luke arrives in Montana a few hours or so later. Completely exhausted in mind and body he drops his suitcase and sits down in the airport waiting area. Out of the corner of his eye he catches a glimpse of silver so turns to see the rim of a wheel chair and the man in it on his cell phone turned slightly so he could not see him clearly. Just as he was ready to dismiss it he saw the familiar way the man’s left hand had a way of moving in a nervous sort of manner.

He saw that the man had 2 casts on his legs some healing cuts on his face but otherwise looked relatively healthy. The man grabbed his crutches that were hooked to the back of his chair and stood. He stared at Luke a good long minute then replied:

He looked down at him with a cocky little grin and waved his hand out toward the horse as if to say, Admit you’re impressed. Luke shook his head and snickered. Damn you really are an Urban Cowboy. The writers obviously couldn't decide between LuRe and Nuke so this is how they solve their problems??!! By killing off the shows' best character? I would rather have Luke with Noah (who I dislike) than have Reid dead! What a horrible ending to a once great soap. So disappointed!! Killing off one of the gay characters makes the show seem homophobic. I know they're not but wow. Way to fall into a cliche.

@didge4dec The spoilers are everywhere. Van Hansis did an interview in Soap Opera Digest saying that when he first saw the script he asked why are they doing this? And then he went on to tow the party line. It's all about Reid being a hero, blah, blah, blah. But really, they just wanted to screw all the gay characters.

And katie smiling at Chris, while she just lost her best friend. Cuz that doesnt matter does it writers? today she's been crying all day cuz she MIGHT lose that ass, who she has been in love for for like forever ( eh, 3 days is it?) . But after her best friend die in such a godawful way at such a young age, with so much to look forward too, you can still spare a smile for chris. REALLY? WRITERS, SRSLY??

@cathy1725 No she looks sick to her stomach that she has to tell him whose heart he has. It was probably residual smiling that he's alive, that's all. I can't believe this stupid show. "Whose heart do I have?" Do they HAVE to show that part. It's so final!! He's dead when those words are uttered. What could be crueler?
