rough quote: "He doesn't want to play defensively, so he sacrifices and plays for time, This is not mature chess but, hey, it's online" Well said, Matt...
I don't have anything much useful to feed back, but I just wanted to say that live commentary games are hugely appreciated and that personally I've been waiting ages to see a game of more than 5 mins per player. Thank you very much, and I hope you continue posting those from time to time. I wish more people would follow your footsteps.
"Playing to win" (as you say) would be continuing to play the best possible defense. Black should just play ...Kd8. He is losing one and maybe two pawns, but he doesn't have to part with either of his pieces... keeping the position COMPLICATED.
Instead, Black sacrificed his best piece needlessly. Because he played as though HE was the one with 12 seconds, his extra 6 minutes were useless. You saw how easy that ending was to win, right?
@GreenCastleBlock well apparently he didn't see it being so easy but calling time based strategy immature is a catty response from a slow player. I should know. my opponents don't let silly things like maturity ruin their time wins.
@roottruthseeker To put this in your terms, not all "time based strategy" is good strategy. Plenty of it is. The loser of this game compromised his position *too much* to try to exploit time, as I explained in my previous comment. The fact that I played slowly does not somehow make it "catty" for me to criticize a losing strategy. If he doesn't sacrifice he probably wins - because of the clock - and he would have deserved it because he managed his time and position maturely.
dzindzichasvili recommends e5 bd7, if c5 and c takes d, knight b5. he says bd7 isn't regarded as the best move by a lot of people, but he thinks they are mistaken. there's a youtube video of one his opening lab dvd's up on here where he talks about all this.
at 16:57, you missed Rxf5 with the idea that if exf5, Bxf5 winning the rook back plus the two pawns white already took.
If instead of exf5 black plays : Rxf5, Rxd4, I think white can gain the advantage with just cxd4, undoubling the pawns as well as winning a pawn from black with tempo.
The last line I see is Rxf5, Rxg3 but that fails to Rxd5+ winning a piece.
I was wondering what you were planning to play if Bxg2 Rg1 Be4 because if Bxe4 Nxe4 c3 is hanging and if Rxg7 Bg6 looks akward as well.
As in the last game you seem to think that trading rook and pawn vs two pieces is good for the side that ends up with the rook and pawn, I would disagree and say that the pieces usually outplay the rook and pawn especially when you have two bishops for a rook and pawn and when there are no open lines for the rooks.
(hand clap).. ... haha. tence last min..!!! Awsome game.. i like how u tell about every move.. makes me wanna break out my chess board.. thanks for sharing..!!

Very tidy endgame + premove display in the ending there. Kudos!

@Mudd0000 Yeah Rxf5 looks good. I imagined a more complicated idea where I try to undermine f5 via d4-d5, but I overlooked how strong ..Ne4 is.

I think the mainline winawer is actually 4. e5
Vonzi0000 7 months ago
@Vonzi0000 Yeah I meant to say "more mainline"... 4.e5 c5 is clearly the most played but I have used Alekhine's 4.Ne2 before with success.
