He was certainly NOT proposing that the US create a cadre for other countries that is "just as well funded and just as strong" as a military one. Moreover, the military is forbidden to exercise its power in civilian matters (posse comitatus), so the brownshirts would have an advantage of acting before the emergency (they may have caused!) could overcome the rule. 1) raise taxes AND;
2) cut spending
and you gotta cut things like military and foreign aid spending, something the teabaggers seem unwilling to do.

it's just like a personal budget: if you want to get rid of debt you've got to REDUCE spending AND INCREASE revenue (new job or part time too).

taxes (federal) are actually the same rate under obama (where you been?) as they were under bush. now, bush's tax cut made what you pay for food (and other local things) higher because that's what happens...lower fed/state taxes, higher local taxes.
