I don't know why people are bringing Esparza into this. It's out of the context of the show, being sung by a woman. Different circumstances.

I think Patti does a great job! I mean, she IS Patti. So she's got the jaw vibrato, strange enunciation, and hammy acting going on. But she's dynamite, nevertheless.

I also applaude her for her breath support. This is a VERY challenging song to sing, and catching your breath for the last few big notes is a bitch. But Patti makes it look simple.

You will probably find most people who use their time watching a Patti performance are Patti fans......ergo, I wouldn't use my time so much watching Bernadette Peters because I simply don't care for her voice.

first alone was an E flat, the second was a G. I actually had to go to my piano to figure those out. cause firstly, Sondhiem writes crazy intervals that are hard to hear and second, patti does this wierd scoop/riff thing on both of them... so yummy!
