If you know or read much about the history of Mahler's third, you'll find the piece itself and Mahler's obsession with it is not too dissimilar to those views held by Blake. I think the piece took up a life of its own and compelled Mahler to complete it. For some reason I always think of Herman Melville's quotes about his novel, Moby Dick--
"...a polar wind blows through it and birds of prey hover over it." Almost as if it were a force of its own to be reckoned with!

lol. People have told me that before. Some have told me that it seemed like I had "no accent" of any kind which is why it sounds weird.

Yes, I often wonder what Blake would think and how his unique perspective would be received in this age.

I absolutely love that work too. (In fact, Mahler is my favorite composer) I don't know much about Blake yet, but I want to learn more about him.
