MAJOR fabrication skills will be requied, not to mention that if don't cut out the fire wall to set the motor back the motor will be mostly set up extremely high above all the front end parts and set very far forward, thus giving it TERRIBLE handling. You would need to custom make the rear end, needs a frame otherwise the car will just twist all to hell, needs a tunnel for the transmission etc.

first of all, putting a turbo on your engine means the only way to make it that fast is forced induction. (i am only hatin on the SUNFIRE having a turbo, not anything good like a skyline, supra, rx7-8, any subaru, ETC...cars that are made to be fast will have a strong eonough engine and not acquire forced induction.

3400 is 185hp/205tq. 2.4 is 150hp/155tq. If you wish to continue, please... get your facts straight and stop posting comments. Stop being upset that you were wrong in the first place about the car even having the engine in it. If you want to have a 2.4 or ECOTEC that's fine, go have that engine. Mine has a 3400 and is faster than yours. Accept it, live with it. If you want to drive something else, it's within your right. And no, nobody wants to hear what you have with further comments.

The 3400 makes 35 more HP than the 2.4 and 50 more tq. You're thinking of the 3100. And the small port 3100 (which is pre-2000) at that. I think you need to check your facts again. And it's not that much heavier than the stock engines either. At least not heavy enough to noticeably disturb the stock suspension.

no, the 3400 is a pushrod piece of shit that tops out arround 220whp before internals are needed whereas stock ecotec's are leaving the factory with 260 and i have seen menny with over 800hp no problem

Mine is using a Megasquirt-II to run it because of the lack of auto transmission. (96+ GM FWD V6 cars were ALL electronic automatic up until the new G6 GTP). But even if using the auto transmission and V6 PCM you still need to adapt that wiring harness into the stock Cavalier's wiring. It doesn't just plug in like many of the Honda's do. You need to look at wiring diagrams, decide what goes where, and make the appropriate connections. The 3400 is the OHV (LA1) like what would be in a minivan.

That's all fine and good. But it's not really difficult to put a 3400 in the car providing you have a welder, and a soldering iron.

Its quick as hell too, for stock. Consistent 7/10s of a second quicker in the 8th. Not sure of 1/4 times on either car. Theyre not racers lol.
