I don't think Jock ever cheated Digger out of the Ewing Oil Profits. Unfortunately with Digger, the checks Jock was giving Digger as a result of Ewing Oil profits. Digger pissed it away on booze and gambling. And I think also, Digger just hated Jock because he took Miss Ellie away from him.
Miss Ellie & Bobby were like the only Ewings Cliff Barnes ever respected. I guess it was the fact that Miss Ellie still cared about his father Digger. And that Bobby married his half sister Pam. As far as Old Fuckin J.R. goes. Well, I think ever Dallas fan knows Cliff's feelings towards The Devil of Dallas.
jock wouldnt have forgiven him. i hate how after jick died and in the early yrs movie that made him out too be a saint. jock was as crooked as jr was and both plotted and schemed in the first few yrs of dallas. jock telling jr to dig up dirt on ppl and telling him to make it up if he cant. jock was awesome. they ruined his name after he died. and digger died to early in the series. it went down hill after jock and digger died.
Cliff, you'd better pray J.R. doesn't catch you hugging his momma! One of my other favorites was the scene early in this season, where Cliff goes to Pam in the hospital room, and begs her not to die on him. That must have been a great tour-de-force for Ken! Victoria had already left the show, and you can't see Cliff's face, because of the hospital mask. But, you hear the understanding, compassion, and love in his voice. I wish someone would post this scene. Bravo Mr. Kercheval!
I think that Cliff finally got "Closure" with his Father's legacy and how he had to fact the painful reality that his Father wasn't the "Victim" that he tried to play himself off of all of these years. Cliff was more of a Son to Digger than Digger was a Daddy to Cliff.
This is truly one of the most touching scenes from the entire series. The character of Miss Ellie as portrayed by Barbara Bel Geddes is so compelling. Ken Kercheval also gives a stellar performance in this scene.
This is one of the most bittersweet episodes in the entire series. It would have been great to see the Barnes/Ewing feud end before Jock and Digger passed away.
If Barnes was this way, why didn't this continue on this way. Why couldn't Barnes see that he had the Wentworth Wealth and it was ok at the end. What a powerful scene. JR would have trivilized it. I always thought that Jock did right when it came to Jason and Diger. But the problem is "JR" would have trivilized the whole damn thing. I hate to say it but as much as loved JR it wouldn't have been easy which is why this was only one scene between the two.
This is a lovely scene, but pretty much represented the end of the series' original premise and the downfall of "Dallas". They tried to replicate the Barnes family with the McKay's, but it wasn't the same.
I don't think so. Mckay's daughter was too much of a pool hustler and that whole deal with Tommy Mckay it was just bull shit. I do think realisticly its odd becuase when it was figured out that Tommy Mckay's brain was fried from drugs that is when Bobby went easy and tried to talk to Mack peacefully,if he'd figured it out earlier so much drama and business rivalry saved but then with Bobby at the helm and everyone liking him there would be no show you might as well have ended Dallas right there.
Absolutely terrific! I'm sure this was from the 12th Season of Dallas though I may be wrong as I didn't think 'Dandy Dandridge' came along so late in the series' life. If I am wrong, I do know that Cliff & Ellie shared another beautiful scene that year. Anyhow I agree with the remarks made so far about the whole 'history' thing. So few shows on TV have that nowadays. That's what made Dallas & Knots Landing a cut above the rest.
Actually it was Season 10 (or Season 11 if you count the mini-series as Season 1), 1987-1988. I always loved this scene because finally Cliff realizes that the Barnes-Ewing feud was a wasted cause.

Its more than a scene from Dallas as its a lesson for people to not hold any grudges that cause hatred & bitterness cos life is too short.

Nice to see Cliff not acting like a bumbling idiot. Great job from the underrated Kenny Kercheval.

A touching scene, it kind of echoes the scene Miss Ellie had with Digger just before he died.

Loved this scene. Very memorable. Cliff was right to go to Ellie. As for Cliff and JR, there had been too much bad blood for them to ever be friends.

And how bittersweet this realization is, because three of the people most affected by the feud (Jock, Digger, Pam) are no longer around.

This is part of what made Dallas so special. To have
characters with that much depth doesn't happen very
much any more on TV.
