  • Warm rice porridge cooked without sugar, cinnamon and raisons but with a vanilla bean a touch of salt and just half a tablespoon of sugar is traditional Danish Christmas dish. It is eaten warm as I said, topped with cinnamon-sugar and a knob of butter. Very traditional.

With the left over porridge we make Ris'ala'mande - which is the porridge, whipped cream, chopped almonds, served with warm cherry sauce! My fave in the world!

  • paranormal laura with them movin pans

  • Question can we replace the raisens with craisons?

  • @HotCocoaxD You can add whatever you wish to a recipe, if you want craisons instead of raisins than feel free. I think people add nuts to rice pudding as well, so you could even give that a go.

  • Whats the deal with anti hot rice pudding??!! lol, we have it hot in the uk. with jam or grated chocolate! :)

  • at least from where i am from, it is equally common to eat rice pudding warm and cold! i actually prefer it warm :)

  • I LOVE the little outtake at the end!!

  • Instead of the cinnamon stick put it in the milk while it's boiling...for a great wow

  • in my house, we also eat rice pudding warm :)

  • No worries; say you're eating Norwegian rice porridge (risgrøt) and not rice pudding. It's eaten hot with cinnamon, sugar and a dab of butter. :D

  • some called kheer to rice pudding n some says creammu

  • in germany it's called "Milchreis".

  • this is arroz con leche in latin america (mostly mexico), kheer in mediterranean countries, rice puddin in united states

  • Indians eat our version of this called "kheer" all the time for dessert. It's served at almost every Indian resturant. The best way to eat Kheer is nice and steaming hot. Also try it with golden raisens and pistachios. That way is the best!

  • love the ending ;)

  • I love hot rice pudding...i would be thrown out too!

  • your pots and pans are moving in the background..

  • wow i didn't know that your rice pudding was eaten cold. I'm from england and i make our traditional rice pudding (really quite similar) and we always eat it hot! to eat it cold is the unusual part.

be happy to know you'd never be thrown out of anywhere for eating hot rice pudding over here ^__^

  • ahhh...ARROZ CON LECHE...

traditional mexican dessert...my mom makes the best...

  • I think this recipe would be very interesting with the addition of Rose water instead of the vanilla, similar to the mid-eastern dessert drink sahlab.

  • i luv all her bloopers at da end

  • u must get lots of youtube money

  • I'm from Denmark, and in Denmark that, without the cinnamon and the raisins, is called "risengrød" we usually eat it during christmas time, with cinnamon on top instead of in it! and if you cool it and mix it with some chopped skinless almonds and some whippedcream, it's called "risalamande" and is a traditional dessert christmas eve (:

  • arnt u supposed to boil the rice first?

  • @musicmaluv but then it wouldnt absorb any of the milk. it boils in the milk and plumps up/ cooks in the milk.

  • it's kind of funny how laura keeps saying that this dish has to be served cold. In my home we make a similar dish using coconut milk (fresh squeezed is best) as well as the whole milk and it's always served hot but its considered more of a porridge. Its great comfort food.
