True story...played in a funk band in high school back in the 1980's and was our bass player. We had a full ensemble and were a bunch of P-funk zealots from the 'burbs of Denver...yes, we were white kids. Anyway, got to meet Bootsy Collins back stage at a concert and told me about playing the bass. It was like talking to Jesus. I played 45sec of this sing and Bootsy said, "You're damn good kid."

Wow...I am speechless...I lived around the corner from Westbound Records in Detroit as a teen, and it was nothing to run into these pioneers... at the store... or someones' house, Ernie D's Campus Ballroom where they performed, was on the corner of my block, so I was always there when they were there. I am so thankful to have experienced this musical history as it was being made...this sounds so good it almost hurts! Kids now, just don't know,not many pioneers today in any genre of music, sad.
