Colombia has had internal conflicts since the early 19th century, the only surprise is that people are shocked by that fact. Before cocaine and guerrilas Colombians were killing each other by the thousands, the only thing that is shocking and surprising is that people seem are still amazed by this, read 19th century newspapers or presidential state of the Union speeches and you'll see americans have been shaking their heads at Colombia for centuries.
We all have choices in life. Doing what is right or doing what is wrong. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor. Saying you are doing something wrong because you are poor does not justify doing it. I wish all these people using drugs could see what the consequences are for other people.

@atollado.....you know the whole drug conflict that is going in Mexico nowadays? guess what the path of the drugs that get all the way to the US is. Some of them are produced in Peru and Bolivia and the rest in Colombia, eventually get to Mexico with the help of Colombian military and officials, to later be smuggled into the US.

@atollado .....The production of drugs has indeed decreased in Colombia, but increased in other parts of the continent, and the people making a business out of it are in essence the same. Don't forget the current president of Colombia has been linked to the drug business multiple times before, even before he was a known political figure in the country during the days of Pablo Escobar. The drug business does finance the war in Colombia, but is not the cause as the try to make people believe.

@atollado So now the bulk of the illicit drug trade (And the accompanying violence) has moved to Mexico. So long as there is a demand, there will be those who will kill and die to supply. Until the US legalizes drugs, people will continue to die in Colombia, Mexico, and on the streets of the United States.

Just think about the huge amounts of money that the US and its associates get from god-parenting these networks of drug traffickers.
It is known that the US and Israel finance a wide range of terrorist movements in the Middle East, specially against Iran. They can't use the money of their tax payers to finance them, so they have to invest those legal dollars in these screened drug trafficking wars in Latinamerica, where they multiply their earnings to finance terrorism in Central Asia.

The US itself protects drug trafficking networks in Latinamerica.
In Bolivia, the very same American army protects illegal coca fields.
In Paraguay, and the triple border with Argentina and Brazil, they have more military bases alleging a ridiculous "Hezballah" presence.
Added to the Colombia they control at will, all these places are key in the drug trafficking network of Latinamerica, and they are ALL managed and protected by the US, its army and dollars.

Good videio, but most murders in Colombia are due to urban common crime which seems to get covered up.
Street gangs (much of this is 'drug trafficiking related' but is excluded from those figures for some reason), domestic abuse, robbery, bar fights, road rage, random arguments in the street, passion killins etc.
