Dessa, I'm somewhat of an expert in getting youtube views, I like your music so I'm willing to lend my skills to your cause. You should put delicious caek in the tags for more views. Trust me, I used to know a guy who's brother went out with this girl for a while, and she had a camcorder, and also a small dog but I forget it's name, but it was pretty small. And I think the camcorder was a Sony or a Sanyo or something. It was kind of pink, but like, shiny metal pink, so if you did that i know.
This lady is so full of herself, it is hard for me to enjoy her music, for a few moments it sounds good then she starts TRYING to sing and it sounds like a spoiled rich kid trying to be way to hip. She is very annoying. When I hear her talk on the radio it makes me want to SLAP the bogus college look at me I'm so smart rhetoric out of her mouth. Stick to your Student clubs, and keep your dictionary close so you can complete another wastefully complicated and over the top verbal PUKE.
@sharkerzzzz Okay there Rick SanTROLLum, are these words too big for you? You sound like a hater who is bitter about not going to college. It blows my mind that people go out of there way to comment on shit they dont like. Why are you even on this page if you think she is "very annoying". Im sure you can just tune into KDWB to hear those repetitive 4 line raps that you obviously love.
I LOVE this video actually...and the approach you took. Very classy and the vid was visually interesting all the way through. Beautifully shot...beautifully thought. Keep it up!

Who ever directed/edited did a phenomenal job. I love the look of black and white cinematography and wish you would have shot the whole thing in black and white. Add in the snow and it would be classic but still the song speaks for itself. Great job, love the early 30's vibe, you totally have that jazz singer look, just missing the bright red lipstick! Really hope you catch on so I can hear more of your creativity and allow listeners to understand hip hop doesn't have to be a rags to riches story

@crayZsaaron If she sounds like she's from Philly to you, then you must know a lot of people from the midwest in Philly. I live in Philly now, and spent a year and a half in the deep midwest. def midwest
doomtree just came to boulder and dessa went harrddd for us... she only did 3 songs cuz she blew her voice out lol. the passion she performs with ive never seen from anyone else before, it was incredible
this is hip-hop? sounds more like a mix of singing and spoken word, leaning more toward singing. it's a great song, i just don't understand why it's classified as hip-hop, if anything it should be in some experimental sub-genre with slight hip-hop influences. calling this hip-hop is like labelling Janelle Monae as a classical music composer. and no i'm not saying this because she doesn't sound like Nicki Minaj (i hate her and all mainstream rap)
@BurglaryoftheSenses i've listened to her other stuff and i get why those are hip-hop, i just don't get why this specific song is considered that just because she's a hip-hop artist.
@papineaun lol i can still see the comment in my inbox even though you removed it. if you're gonna troll you gotta stick with your guns, don't wimp out like a noob.
@Cuddlebunzzzz Um...WTF are you talking about? Please refresh my memory. As far as I know I haven't been on this account for over a week, out of state on vacation.
@Cuddlebunzzzz I'm not attacking you but i think its dumb to hate a group of musicians just because they are "mainstream" or not. I like musicians for the music. For instance, i went to a brother ali and freeway concert yesterday in MPLS and on the drive there i listened to Eminem and Rick Ross. Good music is good music. It doesn't matter how many or how few people know their names. I do listen to underground/independent rap for the lions share though haha
@djwetto63 i don't hate musicians solely because they are mainstream (although my comment made it sound that way), it's just that, based on my experience, the vast majority of mainstream music is terrible. to me if someone's popular there's a good chance they aren't that great, but that doesn't mean they're guaranteed to suck. i like artists like Kanye West and Adele, but even in those cases, their less popular stuff tends to be some of their best work IMO.
@rfsamigo WOW YOU LAUGHED OUT LOUD, SHOOK YOUR HEAD, AND CALLED ME A DUMBASS!!!! YOU TOTALLY PWNED ME DUDE!!! NO ONE HAS EVER THOUGHT OF A MORE THOROUGHLY BRUTAL INSULT IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND!!! I hate how the comments section always becomes a bunch of people arguing about nothing. Music , like many other things is subjective. @MsMMoretti I wish you would go back to the projects of Compton and put a bullet through your head too, maybe one of those real rappers would make a song about it....

@brendo432123 but people that respect hip hop and can see the point of view from an mc who originated in the golden era of hip hop and experienced it's roots, understand, at the very least, where he's coming from. and also, hating on that mc and calling him a liar, isn't the right way to go about proving your point.
also, take a tip from dead prez... it's bigger than hip-hop.
and i find it taking an honest and rich new form not only in minnesota, but in seattle, parts of california and dc.
She's amazing, and so incredibly down-to-earth. No front or better-than-thou attitude from this one, she appreciates all her fans, something I feel like not a lot of artists can say these days. She's also active in our community with music education, and any other charitable event that has to do with encouraging kids to learn more about themselves musically. Keep on truckin girl! We're proud of you!
@kmiller812 What are you talking about? I don't understand the reference....I bet Aguilara would never do an artistic video like this and the song isn't even close to what I remember of Aguilara, complete different style.

@brendo432123 but people that respect hip hop and can see the point of view from an mc who originated in the golden era of hip hop and experienced it's roots, understand, at the very least, where he's coming from. and also, hating on that mc and calling him a liar, isn't the right way to go about proving your point.
also, take a tip from dead prez... it's bigger than hip-hop.
and i find it taking an honest and rich new form not only in minnesota, but in seattle, parts of california and dc.
peace

She's amazing, and so incredibly down-to-earth. No front or better-than-thou attitude from this one, she appreciates all her fans, something I feel like not a lot of artists can say these days. She's also active in our community with music education, and any other charitable event that has to do with encouraging kids to learn more about themselves musically. Keep on truckin girl! We're proud of you!

Wow this song is so awful. Dessa is so greatin other songs, why the fuck is she trying to be cristina aguilara in this one?
kmiller812 1 year ago
@kmiller812 she's not trying to be like christina aguilera...it's the style of that era.
kramraux 1 year ago
@kmiller812 What are you talking about? I don't understand the reference....I bet Aguilara would never do an artistic video like this and the song isn't even close to what I remember of Aguilara, complete different style.
