Siberian tigers are bigger, stronger, and more agile than African lions. Siberian tigers can grow upwards of 700lbs whereas an African lion can only get to about 550lbs. Tigers are solitary hunters who take down BIG prey. Lions hunt in packs, killing mostly the weak and the young, and the females do almost all the hunting for the pride. A Siberian tiger would destroy an African lion.

@texasdurp 600 pounds is not that impressive. Lions have been found to be much bigger. However, the average lion grows to about 410lbs and an average tiger to 550lbs. In the wild, the biggest lions max out at around 700lbs and tigers max out at about 850lbs. There's no denying that in general, tigers are bigger than lions.

Most lions hunt in packs, but nomads or outcasts have to hunt on their own, whereas tigers are solitary hunters. Their hunting behavior doesn't tell us anything. Male lions that lead a pride don't fight very often, certainly not on a daily basis, once they're established and in their prime, either no fucks with them or no one poses a legitimate threat.

Male tigers are similar, they fight just as much, a big portion of tiger deaths are caused by other tigers in territorial disputes. So you can't dismiss them as just deer hunters.

When controlling for roughly equal sized tigers and lions, with roughly equal head size, due to basic physiology, a tiger's shorter, but wider jaws allow it to generate more bite force than a lion. Tigers can run faster and are better at swimming and tree climbing. On average, tigers have longer canines, bigger paws and longer claws.

They were built to fight, while the tiger was built to hunt. A lion is like a UFC fighter, and a tiger is like a street fighter.
