The NYW&B had a branch that went from Port Chester to Harlem River terminal, and from Columbus Avenue to White Plains, which merges into that Port Chester branch. I believe the old Westchester Avenue station space is what I saw: no platform, track space/extended catenary visible, above this the station is still there IIRC, though very much dilapidated.
I take that route everytime I come home (NY) from college in Boston. I didn't realize how high the train gets just prior to crossing the Hell Gate. Thankfully, I never look; I'm usually immersed in my movie or such.

The Hell Gate Bridge was undergoing renovation at the time this film was shot, note the tarps and fresh paint on the main span.
