  • Great video, Love NY

  • The Hell Gate Bridge was undergoing renovation at the time this film was shot, note the tarps and fresh paint on the main span.

  • Now I see that.

  • great shots, your usual good job

  • Thanks.

  • :D:D

  • From the looks of it i think i pass the same stuff

going from buffalo to new york

I love the train when i was little i thought it was boring but since i'm older its so relaxing and much to see its lovley :D

I can't wait to do it agian

  • Which Subway line do you cross over at 5:38.

  • I don't have a clue.

  • It's the BMT Astoria line (N/W) at Ditmars Blvd.

  • 2:20 - 2:25: former NYW&B right of way space is clearly visible, and for a few seconds before and after this point, extended catenary towers are visible.

  • Where did that road go?

  • The NYW&B had a branch that went from Port Chester to Harlem River terminal, and from Columbus Avenue to White Plains, which merges into that Port Chester branch. I believe the old Westchester Avenue station space is what I saw: no platform, track space/extended catenary visible, above this the station is still there IIRC, though very much dilapidated.

  • Is the branch going off to the right at 1:58 the road to Grand Central Terminal?

  • Yes

  • That is what I always thought, but was never sure.

  • what amtrak line is this?

  • That was the Northeast Corridor, Boston south thru NYC to DC and finally Newport News, VA.

  • does it stop at new haven ct.

  • Yes. Amtrak has a website with routes and schedules.

  • oh, i think i saw this train once when i visited ny this christmas

  • you just bypass NYC Penn Station and off to DC?

  • Too dark for video down in the tunnel and under Penn Station.

  • I take that route everytime I come home (NY) from college in Boston. I didn't realize how high the train gets just prior to crossing the Hell Gate. Thankfully, I never look; I'm usually immersed in my movie or such.
