Dame Joan was the first British soprano ever invited to sing in Russian in Russia. She sang the role of Tatyana in Eugene Onegin at the Bolshoi, and also Aida in the same season.

Wonderful to have this recording available. She sang the role in Russia at about the same time as the recording was made. Real drama and what a thrilling climax to the aria - such an underated singer.
