Love this track! Does Hank ever play a bum note if so, I've never heard him?
With such a pure tone it would stand out a mile - just shows what a competent (great) guitarist he really is - great posting sirpeter 1946 - many thanks!
What saddens me most about my generation and kids my age (15) is that they don't appreciate music such as this. And for calling the Shadows my favorite band I'm just called a nerd. =/
im a bluesplayer from maryland trying to craft my sound and have gotta say that ever since i've discovered the shadows, my playing has gotten the praise "New passion with old style soul and sound" i wish i couldve played with hank. makes me glad my main squeeze is a red strat.
I remeber this so well. after watching them play i pestered my mum to buy me a guitar.. after much rangling i got a red hofner colorama. the nearest thing to a stratocaster in those days. ( rare they were in uk) I practiced night and day with my mate phil and we ended up playing all the pubs and youth clubs. ( they had youth clubs then ) . we did have a laugh
perfect comment.. im a limey that grew up with these chaps , however .many of us from that era think that the ventures had the raw edge !! decide for youself !!
the best instrumental music in the world vivan las sombras muchos grupos eric clapton se inspiro en la musica de las sombras muchos grupos de los 50s 60s se inspiraron en las sombras musica para pensar y meditar.
The druming of Brian Bennett was so sophisticated, less drive more polish than Tony Meehan's, but this version of a Shad's great is crap compared with the drums on the original recording, drummingwise. Otherwise, luv'em

This is overdubbed. look at the part where Hank is improvising over the original. the hand is not where that tones come from...
stringbender1982 1 year ago
@stringbender1982 Yes, its really interesting. And the sound of his improvising a little different.

Sometimes I think the Shadows are just a bit too . . . nice. When they go into the melody at 0.56 I nearly threw up into my Special K.
I'm not eating Special K, that was just to illustrate the point.
I love Hank and the boys, but they do irk me on occasion.

The drums and the bass here have no life, don't compare remotely to Jet and Tony, who played as if they meant it on the original recordings

There is something with hank's sound on this specific concert.
Something in the colour of the tone...
I love it!
