all this talk abot flexing your legs lol, you flex more then that, it also depends on the GS , Positive and Negative Gs are fixed similar but different. The good old Negative Gs can put you out just a quick yet take less Gs to do it lol,your also told to avoid - gs because your outside of your AoA. Plain and simple. In reality I believe he's not falling asleep, but rather becoming unconscious. Sleep isn't being unconscious, but is rather an altered state of consciousness. Without blood flow to the brain, brain activity slows to a point where it becomes unconscious.

I don't understand all this criticism of the guy becoming unconscious. Isn't your ability to stay conscious mostly based on your height and blood pressure? I think that when you're tall and have low blood pressure your heart can't get blood to your brain when the plane accelerates (thus the pilot telling him to flex his legs, presumably to restrict the arteries to the legs and help avoid the blood settling in his legs). Any pilots out there who can comment on my speculation?

For all the kids laughing because he kept passing out, it's highly unlikely you'd do any better. G-forces are so high during some of those turns and maneuvers that your blood literally pools in the "down" end of your body. That means you're actually not getting any blood-flow during the few seconds of the maneuver and it takes good physical fitness, a flight-suit, and a knowledge and practice of various techniques to keep blood in your brain. Otherwise you end up like the poor guy in the video.

Have you guys ever been under 8-10gs? He isn't a pussy and getting scared, the blood gets forced out of his head and he loses consciousness, called a black-out. If the pilot did high G dives he would expeience red-outs, where you get too much blood in the head.
