  • Wickedly beautiful.

  • Più Mozart di così!

  • Someone mentioned this a while ago. I thought they were joking.

To hell with Camping--here is the sure sign of the end of the world right here.

  • i like it when they sing "bummmmmmmmmm"

  • it's difficul, it's hard, it's IMPOSSIBLE

  • My choir did this piece this year for a music convention and it was a blast to sing. Perfecting it was definitely a challege, and the fect that there were no lyrics did not take away from the difficulty, but rather just made the importance of the tone and other musical aspects of the song that much more critical. The only thing that I think would have sounded better in the swingle singer's preformance is if they would have had cleaner cuts in the fist 5 chords. But that's just my opinion

  • Absolutely loved it! And I'm sure Mozart would have loved it too. That's the tops in a capella singing.

  • I think many have lost sight of the important fact that this music was written 200+ years ago. This group is merely performing it in a style that is easier for the modern american audience to appreciate. If this is what it takes to get the common american to come to love classical music, then shouldn't we be for it?

  • @Belgarion9989 It is in a style that it would impossible for rats to appreciate, let alone human beings. This could not lead anyone to love beauty, quite the opposite.

  • These guys are an absolute joy, this isn't my favourite piece of theirs, but their pitch perfection and timing always amazes me.

  • @Schamshi are you trolling? If not then u need to calm down. Wtf do you know about singing? How can YOU deem someone else talentless if you're not a professional yourself? Is this how you get enjoyment out of your life? Trolling on videos? Its quite sad actually. If you dont like it simply dont watch it. Or go write to the swingle singers because they, if anyone, just might care.

  • espetacular, genial...

  • I was searching for me zauberflöte videos, and i found this here, clicked on it and at 1:00 i was like, uhm.. not bad and then at 1:22 i was like god.. nice bass and just beautiful!!!

  • Not their best it has to be said. But a tricky piece to tackle!

  • That's so good to hear.

  • Viva Mozart!!!!

  • this is hilarious lol

somehow it seems much older than early 1990s though

  • Drink your own acid instead of spitting on artists well respected by a lot of other people. About your opinion; far of reality and ful of hate. Get yourself a life!

  • @Geepereet

and who are you to judge others-one has a right to express one's opinion so chill out

  • @ Schamschi Go die :D

  • No. But if you can't stand it, you can go kill yourself if you wish.

  • Can't stand it that there are people who disagree with you, that is.

  • Where would you draw the line? The way this music is played today, it is ALWAYS a strange arrangement that can never come close to what it was in the times of Mozart: Music never ever could be repeated (recorded). Very few people ever heard the "original". Then, music was copied, simplyfied, played by small bands, whisteled, hummed and sung by people who liked the melody and gave a damn, if it was "original" - as long as it felt good. I like Mozart both ways: Serious AND "without really caring".

  • @paulrandig Yep, I agree completely and have nothing to say against anything you said. The problem with this arrangement is that it doesn't "feel good", at least for me. I find it just annoying, the pretentious cheerfulness, the sickeningly pseudo-happy faces and the superficial music. In my opinion, if viewed on it's own, it's a short-lived, moderately entertaining, rather fake performance and mediocre singing. If viewed as an arrangement of the overture to Zauberflöte, it's just pathetic.

  • @paulrandig And also, if you make an arrangement of a piece, at least do it properly and don't just cut the second half away because you are incapable of making it sound interesting longer than 3 minutes. And if you DO make such a significant reduction, at least stand by it and declare that you shortened the original, and don't delude the audience and present this version as an arrangement of the overture, because this is deceptive.

  • @paulrandig What are you talking about, "the way music is played today?" who would listen to this except doddering gertiatics who can no longer get their Lawrence Welk fix?

  • @Schamschi THIS THINKING FIXATION IS MUSIC'S WORST ENEMY. ANY OPERA BE THAT A PAINTING, A POEM OR A MUSIC PIECE IS BY NO MEAN SACROSANT AND MAY BE SUBJECTED TO VARIATIONS (*SHOULD BE* AT TIMES). THAT WHAT MAKES CULTURE DEVELOP. THAT IS THE PRODUCT AND THE CAUSE OF INSPIRATION. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT MAKES A PERSON WRITE SUCH A NASTY COMMENT ON SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PIECE BUT I'M SURE YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF THE ONE TRUE AUTHORITY IN DETERMINING WHAT CONSTITUTES "GOOD MUSIC".

  • Qui sono davvero stonatissimi però...

  • Another fantastic arrangement by Ward Swingle and another wonderful performance by the Swingle Singers!
