Partly. Jack Northrop did a lot more in the way of R&D regarding the B-2 than what we took from the Horton Brother's design. We had working flying wing designs by 1945, but lacked the necessary flight control systems to properly use the pure flying wing design, as it is inherently unstable.

Just a thought - the planform of the Horten 229 is remarkably like that of the UFOs reported in 1947 by Kenneth Arnold, which gave the world the expression "flying saucer". Could the US have built and flown copies, at least as models, only to find they were too unstable with then-current control technology, and spread the UFO story as a cover? Interestingly, one of the many alleged pictures of the Roswell "saucer " also shows a similar shape, but with a curved leading edge as on Arnold's "UFOs".

It was in a US museum for 30 years, I heard a rumour Rockwell borrowed it.. Anyone else think the engine and placement of prime systems looks like a B2 Spirit? Like the He162 they had to used wood the flip side it lowered the radar sig.
However this was not the first plane of WW2 with a low radar signature, that honour goes to the deHavilland Mosquito. They used plywood because that was the only resource not being used in 1940. The result one of if not the best medium bomber of WW2.

@Klottelitsch The Me 262 replicas can fly quite happily with conventional controls, but the Gotha 229 was dangerously unstable if an engine quit, and killed a very experienced test pilot. Fly-by-wire would be mandatory for a modern replica, even with today's reliable engines, and that would probably make it too expensive.
