  • Way to go Pickles! Looks like you're doing good.

  • You the man! These vids are great and proof that there are so many nut jobs out there telling lies

  • @getsomeyeah you said it man, the problem is there are plenty of sad bastards out their waiting to here and believe their crap.

  • Must be nice to trot around in NY smog.

  • @Lagolop You have obviously never been to New York, we have no "smog' here.

    Thanks for playing.

  • @StopLiesSeeTruth

"You have obviously never been to New York, we have no "smog' here.

    LOL!

    You're welcome.

PS You are correct, I've never visited NY although my wife has. Good food, loads of pollution, too many people and a very good zoo (and museums).

  • STOPLIESSEETRUTH I have a few questions If I was to buy a horse or 2 horses and get a horse buggy like the Amish have that are inclosed. How much would this cost me to get. I am thinking of getting my horse and buggy to go on a fund raiser. Would a buggy fit in a garage or a normal house. Can a buggy be made wheelchair accessible if that is needed, hoping to be less adaptions then with a car. I don't need it but some friends will who are wheelchair bound.
  • the Amish mostly get off the track standardbreds now..

  • I like the second horse, the one ytou said had a better gaIT.

  • @herewefly He was purchased by another carriage owner and has worked a few rotations in the City. Fine horse, quiet, but not as good lookin as my "Pickles"

  • @StopLiesSeeTruth Next horse i get will probably be a morgan. My mom now rides my morgan and wont give him back lol. But right now Im moving so cant get a horse right now. Do you think the best horses come from the Amish?

  • The Amish breed the BEST horses! My Belgian was originally from the Amish in Indiana. When he was 5 he was bought by a theme park in CA. I worked with him for 4 years, then bought him and now he's my pet. Absolutely a great horse! All of our amish horses at work are just fantastic...A nice sturdy horse, not stupid or spooky, is what they breed for.

  • Ah, I remember old-school Morgans as great farm workhorses, before the breed started morphing into scrawny Saddlebred clones. Nice cross you have there in Pickles... I don't often get up to NYC, but knew the carriage horses in Charleston (where it's way hotter) well. My farm draft horses work much harder than the carriage horses, and love doing it. Where do these protesters get their idiot notions of "abuse"?

  • @rajvader From their twisted minds !!! They also have an uncanny habit of trying to make the exception appear as the rule. For instance, if they can get a picture of a mistreated horse, from anywhere, they will parade it, poster size, beside your healthy horse and scream abuse!

    Go figure.

  • @rajvader Yes, the newer breed of Moran is "finer" than the old. I prefer the bigger boned horses my self, both for work and pleasure. Seems to me the "finer" the breed, the more I get to see the Vet.

  • Did you say Pickles was part Morgan?

  • Yes, Morgan/Percheron cross.

    Thanks

  • @The391956 The horses could cost anywhere from $500 at auction, unproven and history unknown, or $2500-5000 for a trained good looking horse with a known history. The amish buggy , used, should be $1500-2000, new harness will run $600-800 per horse. Cost to feed depends on your situation, if it's your land, budget $5 a day per horse in the winter for hay, grain, water heater etc. A little less in the summer if you don't have to buy hay. The farrier and the vet are gonna run another $2500/H

  • Working horses, living diverse lives, what could be better.

Trained by the Amish, worked in Cenrtal Park, surrounded by families and children, bringing joy and happiness to all, then retired as a companion animal, or used in therepudic riding.

    Perfect.

A reason to be bred, a reason to be trained, a purpose and a reason to exist.

  • nice! I can see his farm from my house. Thats norman telling you about the horses age. I thought his voice sounded familar haha. I think i may have seen you that day. He was taking you around on his yellow and green carriage.

  • You have the best looking bunch of horses!

  • Thanks a lot, I only have luck in finding good looking horses, not in much else

  • This brings up another good question why dont PETA go after the amish for using carrage horses? Pickels is a really good horse it looks like.

  • BC they only go after high profile business that they can make $ off of lying about. People wouldnt take to kindly to peta lying about the Amish...they would feel sorry for them. They know they can get away with lying about us, though. It has NOTHING to do with the animals and everything to do with the almight $. The proof is in the thousands of animals they kill each year.

  • that is what i hate about peta so much, they show you only the things one would want to support to cover up their dirty work with

  • What a good boy Pickles is! Didn't bat an eye at that FedEx truck! (Of course, why would he? He's been passed by school buses and trucks at 55mph in the "country" roads of Lancaster County...)

  • Looks like a nice solid guy. We just had a 'Pickles' move into Chicago, with another company. I like this vid--nicely informative. We breed a lot of our own, and I think I like the idea of buying them instead. Personal preference really, no great reason.

  • Oh my he is a really nice looking boy kinda reminds me of my horse brego.... glad to hear he is working out for you guys he looks like a great horse.... and btw i love the name!!!

  • Pickles! Wonderful name for a horse. ^_^

  • Thanks my wife insisted !!

  • Looks like a real smart boy, nice expression in his eye. Glad he's working out for you, he looks like a sweetheart. And I love the name Pickles. :)

  • One of the first things I do, when checking out a horse is, cup an eye with my had to see his reaction, a calm well treated and adjusted horse won't shy. And an expressive eye , in my opinion shows interest and intellegnce
