1.) Just because she was cleared of the charge doesn't mean anything. Sometimes guilty people do get cleared of charges, unfortunately. It's an even more common event with celebrities.
2.) Believe it or not it does happen. In fact I personally know of one. She's not personally a friend but a work acquaintance...

A toilet assistant in the toilets of a night club , ....... she was asked to put back the lollys she was nicking in a night club toilet , she was drunk and smacked her , she admitted it , she now has a criminal record was fined £500 , had to pay the woman compo and a few hours community service , and she says she don't drink , yea rite ........!!!
