Thx ALOT! Worked for me. Just folded a small piece of paper to add pressure to the back of the battery, although the back lid dosent close, adding a silicone case does keep it down. Works Great! Thanks!
The goal is to get the battery to press against that plate, pushing it in so contact is made in the back of the trackpad. This can be done without removing the plate at all. Tape something to the back of the battery that presses the plate in when in place. Or a small dab of expoxy, I used JB Weld, on the plate just above where the sim card rests, which will press the plate inward when the battery is against it.
If it moving from side to side it could be damage housing. I would try to remove it and see if it sits better in the housing once you put it back together.
lol i fixed it by just pressing down on the that silver plate part closest to the trackpad with my sim on it already it seemed to have pushed the silver plate down more making the sim card add more pressure to the trackpad sensor, wooot!
Thanks. Enabled me to fix my daughter´s phone. Very easy to do as long as you have the correct screwdriver. Added a couple of layers of masking tape to the back of the metal cover as suggested to add extra pressure on the trackpad´s connector.
hey buddy..am a new user of BB..i have got curve 8520..its working fine...problem is that my trackpad is moving...i mean it's not fixed to its position...but its working great..i just wanna fix the moving trackpad problem..please tell me how to fix it..
The thing is though, it's not only my trackpad... it's also the keypad and all the other dedicated keys around the cell that just stopped working. At first the A and S keys were sticking and now the entire phone isn't working but when I pull the battery out and put it in again it would boot up as usual and the homescreen would appear but still no keys would function...Is it salvageable? Do you think you may know what could be the issues with why it refuses to function? (Much thanks for any help)
you make me feel like I can fix my cell on my own! Should I try or give? Is it easy enough for a novice to do? Or should I pay money to get it repaired?
Nice fix. Especially if you're out of warranty, you've got nothing to lose. I'm still trying to think what to put there, but the 3 mins it takes isn't a big deal to do a few times til i get a new phone.
just put a tiny piece of business card between the metal sheet and the sim card and that has given the pressure it needed. works perfectly now...crazy...
Since I didn't have any of those tools, and was nervous to take my phone apart, I tried to place the extra padding on the outside of the plate but in the same place and it worked! Essentially, take out battery and sim, you will see a little black square right there on the silver plate. Put something little there, something that will stay put. When you slide the sim back in it will press the object you inserted down, thus creating the pressure on the pad that you need. no need to unscrew!
@amandakkendrick hey could you post a pic of where exactly do you put the 'something...' i am kinda confused. and my trackpad is dead! it only works when i use some other material like cloth on it!
my trackpad scrolls but doesn't click, the keypad doesn't work too it only works if i press it down hard with both thumbs and move it out and it doesnt even give the right letters. can someone help me with this video cause i dont understand it :(
ok someone please respond because im really need some help my blackberry trackpad wont work and my phone is sprint so it look totally different from the one in the video, how can i make it work without losing anything?? any reply would be helpful thanks!
Thanks this helped ALOT and saved me some cash, the stores woulda wanted to change the trackpad n what not then sometimes some stupid technitians steal good parts n then replace it with bad parts and still wants to charge and arm and a leg just to fix one simple thing lol.. But thanks it worked fine.. so far.. I used double sided tape, and it seems to work perfect
@iLoveJonasAndBieber just grap a small plyers n pull it out lol.. my fingers were to big to grab it after i unscrewed it lol so i used a small pair of plyers..
Does the padding go inside the metal casing between the track ball and black thingy or onthe outside of the casing. ie: under the sim card, cos i cant get either to work. or is it on top of the trackball connector@cklogs
@thamightymoose The video says to put pressure on the connector, not the top of the trackpad itself. Which makes sense assuming that in the video when the guy scratches "X"s across part of the metal cover at 0:47 and 0:59 what he's doing is marking the padding/tape....it's on the edge of the metal cover, NOT over the round plastic backing that the trackpad touches when you push it straight down ("click" it).
cklogs.... You're the man. Here recently, my Blackberry 8520 trackpad has been acting up. I was hoping to find a fix and you definitely presented just that. I'm so happy because it was really annoying not being able to use the trackpad. THANKS ALOT!
Try unplugging it from the board and plugging it back in. Forward the video just at the last step lightly pry up on the ribbon to remove it. Yours might be a bad trackpad.
hello I've had so many problems with my trackpad.. I've open it a lot of times (every time the trackpad had problems working) and I've always got a good result after. But this time I opened it and it won't work again... So I bought a new trackpad, because I thought that was the problem, I've replaced it but it still won't work. The worse part is that I tried my old trackpad onto a different phone and it worked just fine.. So can anyone tell me what else could be the problem??
My 8520 trackpad is a little wobbly, but i still dont know where you have to add extra padding, i think i did everything right but it was still loose, suggestions?
I would pull the trackpad out and clean where it connects to the board. Use the same instruction as about, but pop the clip off where I say to put the padding on and clean it there. Could have corrosion.
@cklogs thanks for ur answer. do I have to lift the metal cover, add additional padding, increase pressure on trackpad flex connector making sure it is plugged in all the way and that's it? Like the video shows? Or do I have to REMOVE and reinstal the trackpad which is not shown on the video?
Yes if it only goes one direction it sounds like you need a new trackpad. I have not heard about this trouble on the 9700 only the 8520,8530 good luck
