I have a nook and love it to death, but I really like the reading experience on the iPad, especially in iBooks. Unfortunately I can't read on an LCD screen for a long period of time because it hurts my eyes badly.
Not an easy choice - Kindle not nice to look at, terrible 'keyboard' so forget any serious note taking, I really miss the touchscreen. But it's really lightweight and readable and page turning is good. A one trick pony, basically.
Maybe the Sony e-reader, has touchscreen ... expensive, no wifi though
Hello, I have a Kindle loaded with my sample books and purchased books. I was wondering when I get the IPAD, does all my books on the Kindle transfer over to the new ipad?
@Drav1212 Your purchased books are all in your Kindle archive, which you can access from the iPad after you log into your Amazon account. Samples will only be on your Kindle, you'll have to download them again one by one to iPad.
I wish people would realize that all these things they are bitching about, can be fixed. Like that they make screen protectors that are anti-glare. Jesus Christ.
kindle is very difficult to read in the dark but the ipad is very easy to read in the dark.
Also, I don't ever think that I would be reading under direct sunlight......maybe I would be sitting on a shaded in porch....but not direct sunlight....
Why are people so obsessed with taking a $500 electronic gadget to a windy. sandy beach?? Take a real book to the beach! Ipad was designed for indoor use!
you are still not reluctant to read on this, because you just got it and like with any other new thing, especially Apple products, you are in love. But soon or later you will see that Kindle is the way to go , when it comes to reading books!
can i have your ipad

I have Kindle DX Graphite, but I kind of like to get an iPad because of iAnnotate app.
That app would help me a lot for my studies and stuff.

i'd say with the ipad the reading would be best in small amounts and indoors. like digital magazines or just a few chapters on the train. :)

I never thought my Ipad would replace my Kindle, I was wrong. I have imported all my books to my Ipad and read on it now. So I am selling my Kindle

You CAN highlight a word and do notes...you just have to hold down on the word for a few seconds and the you can drag and select and make notes....

Cheers Len. Good review. Get some sleep!
Very concerned about the direct sunlight issue. Surely Apple checked this before releasing to market?????

Perhaps Apple (or a 3rd party) will come out with a sheath to go over the glass to make it usable outside. Thanks for the review.
