See this is the problem with a v8. Too much power. If you race a v8 vs a turbo or a supercharged car by the time the v8 is done spinning its wheels the other car would be across the finish line.

Really the problem is... The P235/40/18 pizza cutter tires. An 04' Nissan Maxima has wider tires than this GTO. Stock sizes in the 17" wheel is P245/45/17 which is slightly better but this car needs 275 tires atleast. 285's like the C6 would be perfect, although I think you have to roll the rear fenders for anything wider than a 275 on the GTO.

I'm not sure right off the top of my head. Your owner's manual should have the specified amount listed somewhere in fluid capacities. I use Pennzoil Synchromesh in my GTO, but you'll need to check to see if your Lightning can take that.

Believe or not my lightning is a little low on the bottom end, I've pulled out alot of races on the top end. That was my best run of the night. i had just gotten a new 2400 PI torque converter put in. I know i can get the lightning down into the 8.20's. And the best time i saw the gto run that night was 8.9

Yes, but I have some mods lined up. My best 1/4 mile run was a 12.98 at 108 MPH, but that was on drag radials (so technically not 100% stock).

that's pretty good. we don't live close to any 1/4 mile tracks but we have an 1/8 mile track here in town. we do have plans to go to a 1/4 mile soon. the lightning owner had calculations done for an estimated 1/4 mile ET. it might run a 12.2 but that's just an estimation. it might be faster or slower.

12.2!!? So I'm guessing you're definitely not stock! I know a few guys with Modified Lightnings at my track - The usually run high to mid-12's, but mods are not that extreme (pulley, tune, exhaust, etc).

the driver blew up the stock motor going 130mph. his new motor has 515hp on it. it also has an exhaust. the next big thing to do is a Kenne Bell supercharger.
