I still love this movie... The only 'flaw' that always glares out at me.. is 600nm != that violet color their laser is. but from what I've read, a lot of it is due to script rearrangements.
ACtualy the science wasnt too far off from what they really do.
If you freeze some samples it becomes a denser and crystalized form instead of a gas. You can get an aplitude (denser beam) from the sample when energery is shot through it .
Its a classic film but love that they actually tried to do some homework on this!
Ron Howard / Brian Grazer are doing a SEQUEL / remake of Real Genius? A sequel could be great if they use most of the original actors. Howard & Grazer are a good team. But a remake? Why do they think they can improve on something that already is great? Martha Coolidge already did a fantastic job as director.
I just HAD to buy this DVD years ago. One of the best cult classics ever.
I've been obsessed with lasers ever since.
btw, looks very likely that Ron Howard / Brian Grazer are doing a SEQUEL / remake of Real Genius!! (Take a look at Brian Grazer's IMDB page, or on Pajiba.)
I think the cast will be replaced by new youngsters though, so it might suck. :(
@electronash oh, it will suck! The generation of actors that made in the 1980's was the last great generation of actors. There are a few exceptions, but not many.
Yes, it's true...this man has no dick.

@Adjuni They used the laser to make popcorn in a house.

@grizspice: Really? Because I can really see them doing it though there might not be much pop nor corn left

@Adjuni There was plenty of popcorn left. I would suggest you watch the movie, it is pretty awesome.
