If someone is living on minimum wage chances are they're there as a consequence of their own choices. Even if they're not intelligent enough to get a higher paying job, what is the alternative? If you raise min. wage too much businesses will have to be forced to close down or not hire as many workers. If you just give people money, it's a tax on everyone else and will encourage people to depend more on the government. Ron Paul believes people should be accountable for their own actions.
If we did, there would have been no 700 billion dollar bailout.
We have a system of privatized rewards when favored companies are profitable, and socialized risk when they are not. Taxpayers when the companies fail. In capitalism, they would simply go bankrupt.

Do you know the difference between a facist democracy and constitutional republic? Socialism is cooperation at the end of a gun. It is never OK to force cooperation. Yes, their choices are being taken away, but that is because of the implementation of socialism. Capitalism is the only system that allows real voluntary cooperation in any society bigger than a very small commune (or extended family).

Socialism is not merely a higher level of cooperation. For socialism to function, you invariably have to force people to cooperate. It's true that Socialism IS democratic, because true democracy is a tyranny of the majority. In true democracy, whatever 51% of the people want becomes the law of the land. Pandering to the whims of the uninformed majority, rather than preserving the rights of the individual is how we got in this Statist mess to begin with.

See John Stossel's interview with Ron Paul a few months ago -- as a doctor in the 60's he made $3 an hour taking in every patient at a church hospital who could not afford to pay. That's before big gov't HMOs stepped in.

If someone is living on minimum wage chances are they're there as a consequence of their own choices. Even if they're not intelligent enough to get a higher paying job, what is the alternative? If you raise min. wage too much businesses will have to be forced to close down or not hire as many workers. If you just give people money, it's a tax on everyone else and will encourage people to depend more on the government. Ron Paul believes people should be accountable for their own actions.

We don't have a capitalist system.
If we did, there would have been no 700 billion dollar bailout.
We have a system of privatized rewards when favored companies are profitable, and socialized risk when they are not. Taxpayers when the companies fail. In capitalism, they would simply go bankrupt.
This is known as the "3rd way".
This economic system is called fascism.

In capitalism, I'm still dependent upon others for goods and services, and providers of goods and services are dependent on me to be a customer.
Capitalism requires cooperation, but allows it to be VOLUNTARY cooperation.
