I was in school at the time, though I was Dauphin, but I lived closed to Dixie Dr where the most of the damage happened. My Dad and I were fishing out family pictures and pieces of homes from our backyard and pool. That was probably the scariest day of my life.

When I lived there I only seen a tornado watch but no tornado. But you risk any kind of disaster anywhere.

they dont happen all the time... but they're not rare or anything... ive lived in Alabama all of my life and ive only seen one tornado, and im 19

there are lots of tornados, but you rarely see them. they are usually not near houses, neighborhoods, etc

It was :28 and it's a power transformer getting taken out. Common thing with tornadoes. Some meteorologist actually look for that when they're watching the tower-cameras live.

Very rarely is it transformers blowing up. Most of the time its either poles hitting the ground and the lines are going phase to ground, the the lines are slapping together going phase to phase. I've worked a ton of hurricanes, tornadoes, and ice storms and very rarely had to changeout a transformer even when they were on poles that hit the ground. So chances were that was a phase to ground flash from a falling pole, not a transformer blowing up.
