I owned one of those brand new in 1974. I sold it in 1977 to buy a dirt bike. I recently found all of the original paper work from when I bought it from a Harley dealer in Milwaukee. I am now searching to find this original one I had. Do you have the vin number on this one and are you the original owner?
you are right on both counts, I do it to make sure the throttle is all the way closed. If the flat slide is open even a fraction the engine rpm races instantly on startup. I don't like racing the engine right away, parts are just too hard to find if it blows......:)
The book says 1.5 taxable horsepower. So that's the calculated horspower based on bore, stroke, and presumtion of efficiency. It was just a number used in Europe back in the day. You're right though, it probably acutally puts out 5-6 HP, which is about what a Honda CT70 put out. I can tell you from experience this thing will waste a modern 50cc scooter in acceleration and top speed.
have you tried moto italia and charleston cycle? generally the price arnt bad considering. My father and I 2 SS250s and 1 MX/SS Hybrid. He used to have a Z90 also.
Yes, send me your email and I'll send it to you. They vary by year, so make sure you have the right year. The 73's had a different looking speedo than mine (74) and 75 is the same as 74.
how fast are these little buggers.

twisting the throttle before startup wont do anything, since the carb does not have an accelerator pump on it. Hope this helps, have fun!

1.5 horse power you say? That can't be right. I'd expect more like 7 horsepower from a 90cc two stroke.

I used to have one of these around 1981 or '82. Parts were obsolete for it even at that time. I bet it is a real bitch to find parts now.
