Colitis could be due to bacteria & other reports suggest probiotics (good bacteria) for Colitis which does indicate ulcerative colitis is bacterial in nature... So that would mean Canadians are either exposed to the highest bacterial levels in the world (which I doubt) or that Canadians consume antibiotics more than any other place in the world as antibiotics kill all bacteria leaving the body open for invasion of the bad bacterias.
Such a simple thing to remedy yet the barbaric surgeons remove sections of the colon where people need to carry their waste in a bag when all the person needed are repeat doses of probitics (good bacteria). This is why Nationalized medicine is a bad idea because it makes MD access too easy when MDs main focus is drugs & surgeries & less focus on actually getting to the root cause which is tied to simple nutritional deficiencies or simple cures.
Disease starts with the imbalance of good bacteria & the lack of greens in the diet & too much non-foods which are appropriately called junk food because that's exactly what it is, junk, trash, garbage. So what becomes of your cellular structure when you provide it with junk? Your cells become junk, you become junk, your blood becomes acid instead of alkaline, you will become ravished by disease, die & chucked into the junk yard in the ground way before it's your time.
I tried Remicaid and it did absolutly nothing but bloat me out and make me ill. I couldnt get off the prednisone even on Remicaid!! I am a year and a half "cured" from my UC by way of a total colectomy and a J-pouch. I suffered for 10 years and almost died 3 times because of the disease and its many medicaitons. I hope others fair better.
I have ulcerative colitis since last year, I have suffered a lot, until doctors discovered that I was celiac then they did me an allergies skin test and the result was that I was allergic to: lactose, eggs, vegetables, legumes, spices, garlic , onion , chocolate. I was intoxicating myself dairy. I don´t take cortisone I take homeopathic medicine and mesalamine. I recommend everyone to do allergies skin test: It saved my life for sure. I have been 7 months very healthy
I was taking asacol and it didnt do anything to me so my doc switched me over to sulfasalazine and they work. I also have athritis as a secondary "effect" to my UC
@inluvwithglitter Have the symptoms gone away completely? My 10 year-old nephew has Ulcerative Colitis, he was on Prednisone for quite some time, the UC never got better.
@Weezyfan82 sorry about not responding. but i am 14 and they havent gone away, i am currently on 5 pills of prednisone, two apriso, and two azathioprine and whenever my doctors try to ween me off of the steroids it just comes right back, so currently i am having some texting done to see my options
@inluvwithglitter i think when you get to 10 mg of pred.. it CAUSES a flare up since your adrenal glands are stressed having to bounce back. Thats why it is a deal with the devil to take prednisone. I had the same problem and took one year to get off it that stuff. My solution was ayrevedic medicine... this is east indian herbs. No kidding bleeding stopped in 2 days.. all symptoms gone in two weeks. Just a powder drink before meals and no side effects!

He said I can eat and drink like a normal person, moderately of course. I had my first beer on saturday and didn't cause any pain or anything. Positive attitude and no Stress is the key for this disease.
I have been diagnosed. with UC about a month ago. Luckily my doctor acted fast. I have been on the pills and the rectal meds for a month now and things have improved so much. mostly because I was happt, didn't let this bother me. ate chicken and rice for a month straight

I simply URGE anyone with this disease to give ALPHA LINOLENIC ACID (ALA) a try for at least nine months to a year. It TRULY works, I took it for almost six months and could not believe it. it is not expensive, if you have insurance you should be covered...if you don't there are programs set up so that you don't have to pay for it (in the us anyway).
i was on it for several years, it worked wonders until i had a reaction to it.
the dosage depends on your weight, the frequency depends on severity of your disease.
i wish i could still take it, nothing works as well, best of luck.
I am so worn out.. It's distressing when you read people actually marketing their cures. Difficult to trust. A lot of advice makes sense.I have tried western and eastern medicines with limited success. After 2 years of remission, I had almost forgotton just how unpleasant colitis is. The Colifoam has been good for short term relief at nighttime. I have 2 heart stents aswell.. and a bucket of meds on top of that to take daily. Some of the advice here looks good. well.. We r not alone..
i have the same, sadly, i was diagnozed with it back in june, ive been takieng pills and i haveto take em for the rest of my life, 2 morning 3 night, but ive been doing giood, just haveto stay away from spicy foods :(
be thankful though. it can be a lot worse. i myself was put in the hospital 4 times in the course of a month and i was lucky to avoid surgery. i am now on 12 pills of asacol (sounds like ass and colon i know) a day now. just remember there is somebody worse off with than us with this disease and it isnt the end dude, trust me. it sucks we're unlucky but we'll get through it through medical marijuana... i mean diligence ;)
i havent altered my diet to a great degree. if anything bloats your stomach or gives you pain don't eat it. also i cant drink alcohol either but thats due to my liver, although i suggest not drinking alcohol if you have this disease because you will shit blood and scar your intestines
5) Healthy raw foods! Fruit, Veggie...think 200 years ago before we all got sick :/
Don't buy into that nonsense about mechanical irritation, its all sewage by the time it reaches the colon..eat like a monkey, after-all we are not so grand.
I find it hard to believe (actually impossible) that any pill provides a cure for UC or Crohns. Read a book by David Klein, self healing colitis & Crohns, follow it and you will be healed. raw food veganism. its the only answer to this afflicition. I am 100% healthy. 5 years ago I was a day from surgery. trust me it works. pills in bottles and meds are crap and dont work. good luck
If anyone's interested, I have ulcerative coltis (hate it) & I find that drinking fresh cabbage juice calms down a flair up. I make it in the juicer & also add carrot & apple. It tastes abysmal but it works for me.
man i had to stop using remicade because it made my flar-ups even worse, so they increased my dose of prednisone from 10 pills to 13 pills and that made everything worse. so now in acouple of weeks i gave to go in for surgery. but im scarred as hell!
i had the surgery 1 year ago and it is totally worth it. even with my abcesses, i now feel so much better, and have reduced my bathroom frequency quite dramatically. ask me if u have any questions about the surgery, i will be glad to answer.
hey for the surgery what did they do for you before u got it done becuase it turns out i have to get the surgery done in 1 week becuase my symptons are getting worse and its spreding
I tried 3 tips that I read on the internet and I'm COMPLETELY symptom free in less than 3weeks! I would like to share this with anyone that is interested because I know how hard the struggle with this problem is! First of all get PROBIOTICS at any health food store in the refridgerated section, take 3 X's day. Then make cabbage juice & drink 1 cup, 3 X's a day. Then get homeopathic meds at health food store:Merc cor, Kali Mur, & Lycopodium. These are all tips from this site. SO THANK YOU!!
dont try remicade i read that it gives you some type of cancer in the blood and doctors don't know much abouth it and only works for 35% of the time for ''uc''pation's so dont know about you but thats not a good number because it was made for 'crones' not 'uc' all iam saying trying to cure some thing with that medication yust may cost you ur life...
Someone close to me has ulcerative colitus. He had a bad episode and nothing seemed to work. The doctor said you can try, Remicade which was initially used for athritis and was used for chrones, but not used for UC. So he was the first or one of the first who tried it and was alost immediately in remition for months. Later he tried it again and his face turned red, he couldn't exhale without hard work, and had lower back and chest pains. He was taken off immediately and still has problems.
don't eat food for eight days. drink five to six glasses of hot water every hour. herbs and pharmaceuticals are just western ploys used to take advantage of your income. Remission will occur in four days. Once you enter remission, throw away refined foods and animal protein (meat). you will be surprised how much energy you'll recieve from a steamed vegetable instead. most are too afraid to try this though. they want to eat like idiots and use asacol, enema, pred, etc as an excuse to do so.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
yes it will kill you, if you don't believe it will work. you for example are probably a weak minded being afraid of putting your body under pressure. thus if you do not believe it will work, it won't. so i suggest you don't do it unless you want to die. your power of belief equals 0. only strong minds can defeat colitis.
Hi again, I have used prescriptive drugs Asacol, Pred, etc Natural remedies Homeopathy, Herbs, no citrus fruits, dairy, and full on roughage i.e Wholemeal bread. I don't eat red meat, and avoid sugar. The best for me was the blood type diet Dr D'adamo. I was well for years with that. Mine general starts again through stress, work - divorce!
Or a tummy bug, and we're off again! This time I'm trying AMP aloe vera extract tablets. xxx
Hi all! So pleased to find this vid and read your comms.I have had UC for 25yrs,in and out of remission some bouts lasted 2 yrs.I've tried so many things. They all work, but then next time they don't!In England you have to be next to dead before they operate, and Remicade is not licensed yet. I'll make a list (and post it), of everything that has worked for me in the past maybe it may help you. Don't give up, our bodies have an amazing capacity to heal given the opportunity. Talk again soon xx
Ya i am actually using it right now and i have found it better than the other non harmful meds i have used like asacol, and sulfasalizine. Lialda, asacol, and many other meds are the same medicine, but the how, and where the pill ejects the medicine makes the difference
Take probiotics(good bacteria) in 50 billion per dose capsules that you can get at the health food store.UC and crohn's is caused by more bad bacteria than good bacteria in the intestines.I am symptom free after 3 days of taking this!
I want to thank you so much for your information! I did this and my colitis went into total remission! You have no idea how much I appreciate you taking the time to post this and help others like me! God bless!
I've had ulcerative colitis for over five years now. I've found that cabbage juice heals a flair up. I avoid sugars, biscuits etc & drink fresh made juice (apple, carrot & cabbage). The effect is remarkable. Within a day I notice a massive improvement. This works for me. Not sure if it'll work for everyone though
I want to thank you so much for your information! I took your advice and no longer have colitis!!!!!!!!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help!!!
i take 2 slippery elm bark tablets 1 aloa vera gel tablets and 2 asacol after breakfast every morning and i no longer bleed and i only go to the loo twice a day , it works try it . give it atleast a week to kick in and dont give up on it ok . i know what your goin through everyone and i soo feel for you all . hope this helps you ...
This medication can cause tumors to grow stay away from go for the surgery instead. I must admit it is a rock in a hard place. I had the exact operation 01MCLAREN had.
:/ I've had UC for 8 years. I've had Remicade and developed crazy side effects during the infusions. I had about 6 infusions and it killed a really bad flare though. It works and doesn't. Now we'll see with Humira.
I live in Denmark and was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis 3 years ago (I'm 21-years-old today), and just started on Remicade last week.
For people with UC, however, it is also UTTERLY IMPERATIVE to NOT eat/drink dairy products! I swear, it's the root to all evil - go research it on the Internet, yourselves! Meat isn't good either - as a matter of fact, people with UC and Crohn's Disease can often heal themselves completely, by living as a vegan!
i actually just had surgery last year to remove my colon. the remicade didn't help at all. in fact i think remicade stopped me from healing after i got an abcess from my first surgery, so i needed a 3rd surgery to clean out my abcess( on june 23). i am feeling good now , but my dad is a doctor and he beleives that the remicade is what caused my abcess to not go away, also because it happened to another guy who had the surgery after remicade. he had a HUGE abcess.
I had been on Pred for a year and it didn't go down. So I made the big decision to have the op (they did it in 2). For anyone thinking off doing it... It changed my life. I'm no longer on Medication and I am 7 Months from my op and everything is perfect! I would be happy to talk to anyone if you feel you need an operation or if you have UC and just want someone to talk too!
sir i m suffering frm ulcerative colitis from last 22 months(nearly 2 years).please suggest me tht what shall i do..i m currently living in india..actually medicines dont suit me..and usually bleeding ocurrs few times after every 60-80 days..r there big risks of cancer..wht shall i do to prevent it..
Rahul, I've had UC for about 5 1/2 years now. I reside in the US and in the begining using a western med by the name of Sulfasalazine. It only supressed the symptoms, but soon really didn't do too much. My father went to India to visit family, and visited Dr's who gave him HOMEPATHIC medicines. I noticed a HUGE difference in as little as 1 month. Maybe a placebo affect, maybe they actually worked, but I have been 95% back to normal
(I don't think I'll ever be 100%) for the past 2 years almost. FOR ALL OTHER SUFFERERS OF UC, HERE ARE THE NAMES OF THE MED'S: LYCOPODIUM 30, MERC. COR 30 (srry it's abbreviated not sure the whole name) and KALI MUR.)
The Dr's asked my father what my symptoms were Exactly, how often, etc, then prescribed the meds. I highly encourage you and other sufferers of UC to at least try Homeopathic meds, and try the ones I've listed. My Dr. here in the states that diagnosed my UC told me I had a "Minor" case of UC (sure as hell didn't seem that way though!) Good luck and God Bless to you Rahul, and everyone else suffering from UC.
I havent had colitis for very long, but i have taken mor meds than any one man should have to take. I am seriously considering getting the surgery in hope that i will be able to go back to my old lifestyle. It bothers me that the surgery isnt something that everybody does, because it makes me believe that there is something to it that can make it a bad choice. What do you suggest i do, cause im really out of options
I suggest getting the book "Restoring Your Digestive Health" by Jordan Rubin and Joseph Brasco. I had UC for 4 years and was never in remition, but then I read this book and followed the program. I've been off ALL my 24 meds (which I took everyday) for 3 years and have not had a flare up since 40 days into the diet/lifestyle. I'm 17 so anyone can do this.
I was allright up to March this year but since march I have not been bleeding but had the runs again. The specialist says that I have developed colitis again, even though I no longer have a colon. It's funny that leonnie below mentioned probiotics as I tried actimel (twice a day 1 before breakfast and 1 before evening meal) and although I have not stopped with the diahorea (or however you spell it) My aches and pains have stopped and I certainly feel much better. Even so it's bumcam 4me next wk
Unfortunately, smoking cigarettes works the best for me. I've had UC for 35 years. I think I have quit smoking a thousand times. Now, I quit smoking, bleed, smoke, heal, quit, bleed, smoke, heal, quit, bleed, smoke, heal. I will be visiting the Cleveland Clinic to see about getting this annoying piece of plumbing removed.
I quit smoking in January this year and have developed the sympotoms of colitis , my doctors insist there is no link .. but i have since read several articals on this subject one on a BBC health line and there is most definitly a link
And the news decides not to mention the side effects of remicade? Always making docs look like miracle makers.. there are risks!

Whenever I see statements like" Canada has one of the highest rates of ulcerative colitis in the world" makes me focus on the cause, why Canadians?
Is there something in the water treatment? A bacteria perhaps?
Is it easy access to MD's who prescribe a lot of drugs that cause the condition?
There has to be something very specific to Canadians that cause this, but what can it be?
I once read it was proven that ulcers were tied to a specific bacteria, colitis could be due to bacteria.

drop dairy, unatural foods etc , helps a lot, rest well too.. the intestine can heal.
juicing is great cabbage , ginger, celary etc . YMMV but working for me.
stay the ... away from the fake feeling of wellness that the steroids[prednisolone] give.. imo
VonLeachim 1 year ago
@VonLeachim that might not work for everyone, I couldn't have cabbage that would have gone thru me like a dose of razor blades when I had a colon
And as for your comments on steroids they saved my life and now If it wasn't for steroid enemas I would have had to gone back to the bag!
Everyone's situation is different, I would never assume mine was the same as everyone else's!
But thanks for the tip x

Colitis, simplified, print and live;
The best things to put thru the system:
1) Psyllium (ground husk&seed, don't cheap out on husk only, and dont take more than 1 tbsp/day [or your farts smell like death]) cont
2) The SCD diet yogurt, or bio-K basically something with the lactose gone from fermentation of the pro-biotics
3) Bentonite
4) Boswellia (great supplement, has better odds than sulfa Rx for inducing remission, search pubmed for 'colitis boswellic remission'
cont..

And now for the verboten list, these items (in order) are pretty much gonna give you problems.
Avoid with all your strength.
The 5 worst things you can put thru the system:
1) Booze
2) All Meat (especially red) - pick a nice low mercury fish like tilapia instead
3) Dairy (except the super fermented SCD yogurt)
4) Sugar (read the SCD for details)
5) Drugs

I find it hard to believe (actually impossible) that any pill provides a cure for UC or Crohns. Read a book by David Klein, self healing colitis & Crohns, follow it and you will be healed. raw food veganism. its the only answer to this afflicition. I am 100% healthy. 5 years ago I was a day from surgery. trust me it works. pills in bottles and meds are crap and dont work. good luck

Your an idiot. Raw vegetables not only can cause obstructions in the colon, but the fiber will cause even more bleeding.

**HOMEOPATHIC CURE GUYS. IM NOW SYMPTOM FREE**
I started using HOMEOPATHIC Meds. Within a few months, I became Symptom FREE. Trust me they work!
- BACILLINUM - 1M
- LYCOPODIUM 30
- MERC. COR. 30 (abbreviated, and I don't know the full name)
- KALI MUR. (I commented on page 3 as well, see what I wrote since were limited to amount of space we have.)

If anyone's interested, I have ulcerative coltis (hate it) & I find that drinking fresh cabbage juice calms down a flair up. I make it in the juicer & also add carrot & apple. It tastes abysmal but it works for me.
emeraldxm 3 years ago
man i had to stop using remicade because it made my flar-ups even worse, so they increased my dose of prednisone from 10 pills to 13 pills and that made everything worse. so now in acouple of weeks i gave to go in for surgery. but im scarred as hell!
halaykurdi 3 years ago
i had the surgery 1 year ago and it is totally worth it. even with my abcesses, i now feel so much better, and have reduced my bathroom frequency quite dramatically. ask me if u have any questions about the surgery, i will be glad to answer.
nygiants93 3 years ago
hey for the surgery what did they do for you before u got it done becuase it turns out i have to get the surgery done in 1 week becuase my symptons are getting worse and its spreding

Once you enter remission, throw away refined foods and animal protein (meat). you will be surprised how much energy you'll recieve from a steamed vegetable instead. most are too afraid to try this though. they want to eat like idiots and use asacol, enema, pred, etc as an excuse to do so.
gullwing556 3 years ago
not eating for eight days and drinking only water can kill you.
sprgflower 3 years ago 2
This comment has received too many negative votes show
yes it will kill you, if you don't believe it will work. you for example are probably a weak minded being afraid of putting your body under pressure. thus if you do not believe it will work, it won't. so i suggest you don't do it unless you want to die. your power of belief equals 0. only strong minds can defeat colitis.

gugul herb works great for UC . I have some relief now ... i bought it from AYUSHAKTI USA in nyc ... their formula is called "joint health support"

I'll look forward to seeing your list

Is the water fluoridated. Fluoride is a poison. It is in processed foods. But in the water and toothpaste in most western countries.

has anyone used lialda
kaisermatin2 4 years ago
Ya i am actually using it right now and i have found it better than the other non harmful meds i have used like asacol, and sulfasalizine. Lialda, asacol, and many other meds are the same medicine, but the how, and where the pill ejects the medicine makes the difference

Take probiotics(good bacteria) in 50 billion per dose capsules that you can get at the health food store.UC and crohn's is caused by more bad bacteria than good bacteria in the intestines.I am symptom free after 3 days of taking this!

Remicade is like a miracle...but eventually you develop an immunity to it...

i actually just had surgery last year to remove my colon. the remicade didn't help at all. in fact i think remicade stopped me from healing after i got an abcess from my first surgery, so i needed a 3rd surgery to clean out my abcess( on june 23). i am feeling good now , but my dad is a doctor and he beleives that the remicade is what caused my abcess to not go away, also because it happened to another guy who had the surgery after remicade. he had a HUGE abcess.

I had colitis and got it so bad I had to have 3 operations to remove my colon and rewire my small intestine down to my buthole!
paulsu27 4 years ago
I had been on Pred for a year and it didn't go down. So I made the big decision to have the op (they did it in 2). For anyone thinking off doing it... It changed my life. I'm no longer on Medication and I am 7 Months from my op and everything is perfect! I would be happy to talk to anyone if you feel you need an operation or if you have UC and just want someone to talk too!

Maybe a placebo affect, maybe they actually worked, but I have been 95% back to normal
rolin5oh 4 years ago
(I don't think I'll ever be 100%) for the past 2 years almost. FOR ALL OTHER SUFFERERS OF UC, HERE ARE THE NAMES OF THE MED'S: LYCOPODIUM 30, MERC. COR 30 (srry it's abbreviated not sure the whole name) and KALI MUR.)
rolin5oh 4 years ago

XxTIMETODoWORKxX 4 years ago
I suggest getting the book "Restoring Your Digestive Health" by Jordan Rubin and Joseph Brasco. I had UC for 4 years and was never in remition, but then I read this book and followed the program. I've been off ALL my 24 meds (which I took everyday) for 3 years and have not had a flare up since 40 days into the diet/lifestyle. I'm 17 so anyone can do this.

Do you live like you did before the Uclerative Colitus after the surgery? Are there any side affects or long term problems after this?
HerChampion 3 years ago
